Problem (Not sure if Texturing or what)

I'm not sure why, but my portal is completely screwed up. It runs fine, but the models and textures are completely bugged. on my steam profile (HayTux) there is a picture showing you what I mean. I don't know why it looks this way, if anyone can help please do, I have switched every setting, nothing works.

That's a video card error, what kind of card do you have, and are its drivers updated? If you have an ATI/AMD card, disable the catalyst center. Also search around because this may be a slightly different issue than I think it is, and yours is not the only one with that visual problem.

Verify your game files first, anyway, just to see if that helps. Right-click the game icon in your library, choose Properties, then files, and Verify them. Restart Steam.

It is an AMD card. I'll disable the catalyst center and see if that works, thanks for the help.

Rolling back the drivers on some amd/ati cards also helps, but check that first.

Are you playing the Portal demo?

I also noticed you've been playing Garry's mod. Good chance there's a connection between your problem and Garry's Mod. If your having this kind of problem after playin Garry's mod, be sure to reboot.

What did you do to fix it? Posting what you did to fix it might help others who have the same problem.

I used the Steam updater for the drivers, which is where the problems started. I got a different update from the actual AMD website instead and it worked.

^^ why I always say to do it manually. My friend's computer got Windows to update his one card, and it went back 2 full years. Why? Because the company didn't get the newer ones validated by Microsoft, so the 'latest' drivers Windows knew about were from waaaay back. Always best to know not only your hardware, but exactly what has gone on it in terms of software.
