Game crashed and set me back two levels.

So my game, randomly crash and set my character back two levels, in a previous dungeon floor, with less gold, etc.. basically set me back to an old save, not to big of a deal, but I was just wondering if anyone know why this happened, and if there is a way to fix it just in case if it happens again?

Id try verifying integrity of game cache to make sure your not missing that 1 odd file or something

Game list-->select torchlight-->right click--> properties-->local files--> verify!!

If you got Vista or Win 7, make sure you have that annoying "assistance" popup turn off when you hold down the shift, ctrl, or alt key for a few secs. Also disable desktop composition, it's an known issue that will cause crashes.
