Game keeps trying to reinstall...
EVE Online keeps trying to install/download. It's not listed in my downloads page, I can't stop it. Every time I delete a few hours later it starts back up....And the game says "EVE Online: Incarna DEMO"....
I own the full version of EVE Online, and I bought it 3 years ago or so. Now EVE updates it's name with the newest expansion/content patch, I get that. What I don't get is why, a week or 2 after I deleted the full game's installation...it's suddenly trying to constantly reinstall itself, and calling itself a "Demo" now :/ I only ask all this because even after I delete, before it suddenly starts downloading it....my bandwidth drops from a 6-8 mb download to a 2-2.2 mb download bandwidth....so long as steam is open...I'd like to be able to watch my streaming shows without having to close steam every couple hours :/ |

Before you bought the game, had you ever installed the demo of the game?
If so, search your Steam install folder for any files with "EVE Online Demo" here: <drive>:\...\Steam\Steamapps\And any folder of a similar name here: <drive>:\...\Steam\Steamapps\CommonWith Steam not running, delete them and see if that cures it. |

Demo? No. Free trial? Yes. Was it on steam? No.
The first time I installed it on steam, it was the full version of the retail game I had just snagged for $5, nearly half a year/a year after my account was first made. EDIT - Also, this installation was fresh. It's on a 500 gb hdd exclusively for steam/origin/game installations. I copied some folders and reinstalled the rest. Pretty sure I've reinstalled/uninstalled EVE once or twice, and not sure if it was one of the copied ones (mostly I copied map/custom data, not entire game folders...mostly...EVE isn't like TF2 so...) The first/last time I used an EVE trial, and I'VE NEVER used it on Steam, was on my old 160 hdd that is now holding media files and is NOT my steam HDD. This fresh HDD never had anything except retail EVE, as far as I know. Period. EDIT - As I said, this problem only started in the last day or two; the same day I started having my Avast false positive problems (Since fixed). A LOT of games have been crashing/bug splatting/being converted/having to redownload things (I've had to verify cache and dl a 5.6 mb file for Avp 2010 TWICE now) since that Avast issue first showed, so this DL problem is just one more in a growing list; a list that's starting to jarate me off -.- Last edited by Eon the Wolf: 07-28-2012 at 01:34 PM. |

Bump.
Any users have a suggestion? I was hoping to not have to deal with asking support because they've already got enough on their plate, but if no one has anything, I'll have to bother them, AND deal with the longer wait times :x |

Delete everything but steamapps and steam.exe and delete the unwanted folder.
Restarting steam will reinstall everything except whatever is causeing the download. I would give a 99% chance of this working for you. |
