Suggestion thread!

Hi these are my suggestions to make the game better.

__________________________________________________ ____________________

More specific car loading menu.

Currently in Railworks, when you want to add, say for instance, coal to a hopper or containers to a flatbed, it's already pre-determined about what the colors of the containers are, or how much coal there is. Basically what I am suggesting is that When you do Shift+double-click in the scenario editor to fill cars, it would have more options. You could adjust the amount of material on the cars (one container, 25% full of coal, etc) and even change the freight. If you have hoppers, you can fill them with not only coal, but also other materials like iron ore, taconite, wood chips, granite, and limestone. You could change the color and company of containers, so you could have an Evergreen one below and a red one on top. Also, if you de-rail, freight would fall out of open cars (containers would tumble all over, coal would spill out, etc).

Children in the scenario editor.

Kids love trains, right? So what if in the editor there were children you could place, move around, etc just like the other people. They would come in different ages: 3 years, 8 years, and 15 years.

__________________________________________________ ____________________

Switching tracks using the map.

Never again if there is a junction switched against the train up ahead you will have to stop, go into free-roaming, and switch the track. Sometimes there's not even a lever! So what if you could use the map to switch tracks instead of frantically racing the train to the junction or hitting "G", trying to switch it before you de-rail?

New view for steam locomotives.

Instead of leaning your head all the way out of the window to see ahead of you, what about putting those running boards on the side of the boiler to use? There could be a new camera mode specifically for steam locomotives where it puts you on the platform on the front of the boiler.

Improved passenger view for chair cars.

Why not sit in a chair car and not a prisoner transport car? Seriously, the ACF chair cars are very dark on the interior, and RSC, it would be great if you could make them a bit brighter, like in the P70 car.

You can already change points in the 2D map. Key 9,Shift +left click blue dots. I assume switches is American term for points.

The biggest annoyance for me is the lack of independent movement between vehicles.
Wagons and coaches follow the locos like a single cardboard unit.
Just a slight individual sway would make all the difference to the realism.

Lets hope someone from RS reads this thread

New idea:

Ability to switch to some other camera modes in tunnels.

It can get boring driving a superliner on the Donner Pass when you go through that huge tunnel. So why not let players switch from cab view to passenger view?

As I have said before, it would be great to print out a map and work schedule before you start a scenario.
you could then pin it to the side of your monitor, and not have to keep referring to the F1 instructions.

I think this could be done quite easily if the author would includer a printable work-order as a ReadMe.

Don't like brittish trains - Love British Trains

The european Eaos wagons come with Coal or Stone or other materials - do the US wagons not have that variery?
As the game ends when the train derails - like doing 75mph down Donner Pass - does it make much differnce as to where the wagons end up?

Is that a bit unrealistic?

Not really. Go to a scenario, pick a free roam, pick a loco and if need be uncouple it from any wagons then just play with the loco until you get used to the controls with the F4 off.

Don't forget
'A' = Increase Power
'D' = Decrease Power
Switch the F4 back on to use the brakes until you get use to using the mouse.

My suggestion would be to hold off on making more DLC until all the others have been upgraded.

Apart from a Queensland Rail add-on, that one can't wait.
