Pure servers?

How can I sort the server list so I know that a server I want to play on is using pure content.. not the cheat skins that a lot of servers use??

Is there a way to filter my server list so the cheat servers or servers that don’t run the pure setting will not show?

When you join a server, type sv_pure in console to find out if it's pure or not.

That’s not good enough... sure for me but how many players don’t know about it and get owned on servers.

The filter should be there. It is a problem that should be fixed. It is not fair for the average gamer. It is a cheat because the average user does not know about it. It is not fair because someone has to tell you about it or you just don’t know so you get owned on the steam games.

Steam should put a filter on the server list so we can see this.

That would be fair. Let the user see the option so he can pick the server he wants to play on. Don’t just leave it to word of mouth for a user to make that decision.

I installed a simple gun skin, if my gun is red, I leave the server.

At least Valve games have sv_pure 2, not like other games that have no protection from using skins to see through objects.

yeah i hear you.. but a simple filter will help everyone.. not just the ones who hear about it, or one's that install a gun skin .. everyone will have a fair chance to play on a server that is not cheating.

like how hard is it for them to add the filter to do this??

ALOT of css game servers do this .. it is not fair. we should be able to filter this.

I totally agree, people should be made aware of sv_pure, what it does and what it means to play in the different types.

sv_pure should be a filter on Valve games. Select 0,0-1,1,1-2,2

And I would like to see an sv_pure 3 that allows Valve signed skins that don't give advantages.

Valve never say they are going to do something, they just do it or don't and you get happy or not.

Saying they will makes people jump up and down until it's done.

So just keep the thread alive until they do it.

This is the VAC forums, for discussion pertaining to the Valve Anti-Cheat system.
If you have suggestions for implementations, perhaps posting in the relevant "Ideas & Suggestions" forum would be best?

sv_pure settings have quite a lot to do with VAC actually, a VAC game on sv_pure 0 is not secure and people in the VAC section should be made aware of the differences between sv_pure 0 1 and 2 settings and that sv_pure 0 allows all skins and that allows cheating.

An sv_pure 0 server without admin's means it is highly likely to have cheats in the server and nothing will be done about it at all.

So in my opinion VAC and sv_pure are very much part of game security and both discussions belong here as they are part of same thing, games security and removing cheats/the ability to cheat.

I will not play in a server that is not both, sv_pure 2 and VAC protected. Any server that isn't VAC secure and sv_pure 2 simply is not secure and you can't argue differently, admins do not see all cheats and can't replace sv_pure 2.

Hmm, I don't think you're right in saying that.

Since the OP was making a suggestion about a feature that should be implemented in the server browser, Budweiser is right, it does belong in the suggestion section.

A suggestion probably should go there, but you can be assured Valve read these forums as well, and as I said VAC and sv_pure 2 are complimentary and both an intricate part of server security against cheating. And discussions about sv_pure 2 belong here, where else would you suggest talking about it and making people aware of it and how important it is.

As a suggestion it would disappear in a day and never get seen by anyone, here at least people will read it and understand "hopefully" what it does and why it's important.

I have been stressing the need for a SV_Pure filter for well over a year - is ridiculous expecting people to have to join each and every server and use trial-and-error to find out which are secure.
