why do i have half life 1 downloaded but have to purchase it?

lol i reinstalled steam yesterday and installed all the source games i had but then out of nowhere half life came in my downloader i let it finish and it says i have to purchase it

You probably installed CS, CZ or Deleted Scenes. Those require Half-Life to be installed, no matter if you own it or not.

That is really super annoying. I bought the CS complete package yesterday, so now I constantly have a half green/yellow bar on Steam and a game in my library that I don't own until I buy Half-Life?

That's bull♥♥♥♥! Who do I contact to get this removed?

Buy the game. It will have to be there for the RESOURCES that those games use anyway.

Well, CS originally started as a mod for Half-Life, and even when it got a standalone release, it still needs some Half-Life files in order to work properly. Anyways, you should consider getting it, it's a great game.

FYI, ANY GoldSource game that is an addon mod for Half-Life will require it (Half-Life itself). This includes Counter-Strike, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero Deleted Scenes, Day of Defeat, Deathmatch Classic, Half-Life: Blue Shift, Half-Life: Opposing Force, Ricochet, and Team Fortress Classic.

There are MANY shared resources with the above listed mods and with Half-Life itself. (Edit: and any others that I may have forgotten)
