There's probably still a hand-full of communities that play. You might need to look a bit though. I wouldn't know honestly, the last time I played online was years ago and even then it was very unpopulated.

Ahh I remember when I played CoD 1, those were the good days. CoD 1 should be a free to play, it would get even more people to play it.

It's a sweet idea. Previous publishers have done it, such as the old Command and Conquer games, Starsiege Tribes games, The old elder scrolls games. But as you would expect of Activision, they enjoy the smell of money a bit more than the satisfaction from their fans. I mean they're still charging an outrageous price for COD 1 on Steam.

That's not Activision who set Steam prices, that's Valve being greedy there.

Example: Amazon have the Deluxe Edition (CoD 1 and UO) for £10.99

Steam have it for £30 if you get them individually.

You do get servers with people on them even now, but not that many though I mean i've not played it in about a year but I still check to see how it goes from time to time.

Valve doesn't set the prices, Activision does. Other shops can sell the game for a lower price becaue they already bought the games and they determine what price they want to sell the game for. Valve only sells the game for Activision directly on Steam and they get a cut of the price.
