Time until a pet evolves

Hi,

does anyone know what exactly is to do until a pet evolves? I evolved some while playing, but I'd like to know the exact requirements for evolving.

Just the time you spend playing, I think. Never really thought about it to be honest.

I tried 3 times to see how much does it take and I got always the same time: 40 minutes.
