Steam acting up, connecting account and then..
Since this morning, everytime I have logged onto steam it has said
Connecting to steam: <my account name> then disappeared. I'm not sure what's happening, I've tried to uninstall and reinstall and deleted the ClientRegistry.blob. If it helps I'm using Windows 7 64 bit, also I have just checked the "dumps" folder, and it seems like steam crashes every time I log in. |

Do you have Avast running? Recently it caused some weird issues. You may need to update it.

I've had Avast and steam running together last night, but I'm going to try uninstalling Avast and then trying to get on to steam. I'm just worried that the dumps folder shows files that say steam has crashed every time I try to log in.

Delete your ClientRegistry.blob file and start Steam again.
That is pretty much the 100% solution to most steam start issues. If that doesnt help delete all files/folders BUT steamapps and the Steam.exe (that way the Steam client downloads the missing files on startup and "automatically repairs itself"). |

I've noticed something else that might help, if I go onto my Notification Area Icons, Steam is there and underneath steam it says "Steam - Updating - 99% complete"

I've just tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it hasn't helped, the problem continues, I think the problem is that it never starts properly, it connects my account and then crashes? And Darksimmsy that is nothing like my issue, I think you need to make a new thread?
