companion wont follow me

Hi all, so I am on a quest and I told Serana to wait and when I tried to talk to her to get her to follow me again, the option isnt there. I tried 'lets part ways' and she said that I cant get rid of her that easily. When I go into a new room/area she appears but merely stands there - not sure how to get her to follow me again
