There is no HL2 mod that can get you banned. They work different.

I didn't know that we could get banned for playing HL mods, I haven't even finished HL1 story yet. This may be important to me in the future... could you please elaborate?

I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that an HL1 mod by the name of Paranoia uses a modified version of a certain opengl .dll file, which would be picked up by VAC. 99% of HL1 mods should be okay, though.

I believe that is a false report, used by people that cheated. Paranoia and Cry of Fear use the same dll that is supposed to cause the ban. It is being tested right now and no bans yet.

I have spoken to the maker of Cry of Fear and he plays online hl games while cry of fear is installed and he isn't banned.

I will be adding it to my safe list soon. When I have been using it for 3 months without getting banned.

If your worried ask here about game mods
