To get a 'rare item' for MvM do you have to buy three Tour of Duty tickets?

The thread's title is basically the question that I have about the game mode. And you do get a regular MvM item for beating each mission, right? And a mission is 8 waves correct?

One ticket equals one part if a tour, so it'd be 3 tickets to complete one tour through a while map. Basically, its one ticket for an item-giving mission.

But isn't the rare loot only provided with a completed Tour?

1. Each time you complete an unfinished Mission on your ToDB in Mann Up Mode, you'll earn an item. This will consume the Tour of Duty Ticket you presented to enter Mann Up Mode.

2. When you complete all of the Missions on a ToDB, you’ll earn a random rare item. These rare items can only be obtained by completing ALL Missions in a Tour of Duty.

It seems to me like the FaQ is very misleading. By calling a ticket a 'Tour of Duty Ticket' it implies that the ticket is an admission ticket FOR THE ENTIRE TOUR--not just one mission as a part of the tour. So which is it?

I just noticed the tricky wording that they used in the FAQ.

Q: Do the new items earned in Mann Up Mode affect gameplay?
No. All items unique to Mann Up Mode are cosmetic. They are equippable throughout all of TF2, and are tradable.

Keyword: new items.

Q: What is Mann Up Mode?
When you play Mann vs. Machine on an official Mann Co. server, this is called Mann Up Mode. Mann Up Mode allows you to earn special item rewards and track your progress through various Missions. To enter Mann Up Mode, you must possess a Tour of Duty Ticket.

What this section doesn't say is that the 'special items' are the items you get for completing the tour. It seems as though you don't even get the robot related hats, or weapons unless you complete an entire tour.

So you basically get random items for one completed mission according to Alexx17.

Geez, I just realized that the wiki is wrong:

You can get up to 6 rare items upon completing this mode if everyone in a full team of 6 uses the Voucher.

It says that squad surplus vouchers award a *rare* item, not a normal weapon. That kinda sucks. At the very least, I sincerely hope that in a game of 6 people, a squad surplus voucher increments your Spirit of Giving by 5 for the 5 free gifts you gave out...

I think that it gives a forced item drop, but when you get to level 2 tour, you get a rare loot immediately.

Then you continue leveling it until you get level 3. Until then, forced drops..

well, the full tour is only 6 missions (not all 9)
but it's still kind of dumb, i was expecting the "rare" item to be something better than just an item drop
