Source Mods on Desura: VAC ban?

I got a mod for hl2 on Desura, I am wondering if it is safe to play these mods on Desura?

Single player is never VAC secured so you can play there without a ban. Unsecured servers are also safe from VAC.

Any alteration to the client or 3rd party injection to the client is not allowed on VAC protected servers as far as I know.

There shouldn't be any difference between installing a mod via Desura and manual install. I've played Nightmare House 2, Dear Esther, and The Stanley Parable using Desura and I've never had any problems.

Hi, im the creator of the Desura client and every hl2 mod is tested and validated before being released (with my personal steam account) and will never result in a ban.
