Does anyone know how to make a copy of the save game profile?

Hi everyone. I'm on my first play through of Bastion and I just got to the final area where the game warns you that if you proceed, there is no going back. I don't like it when games do that. (Beyond Good and Evil did this too.) So, I want to make a copy of profile 1 and have profile 1 and 2 be identical.

I found the save related files and used windows to make a copy of them and named the copies profile2 and that did give me a second profile when I went back into the game, but when I tried continuing the game from profile2, my progress was empty, even though my profile2 files are identical to the profile1 files.

Has anyone been able to make a copy of the save profile successfully. I would like to do this so I can finish the last level, then go back and do the side challenges without having to start a new game.

Thanks for any information you can give me.

Unless I'm mistaken or they changed it, the game doesn't dump you into NG+ as soon as you beat it. When you finish it, you can choose to start NG+ from the main menu. Loading the save normally puts you in the Bastion before the final mission.
