GTX560TI FPS Drop?

So I was playing TF2 today on my GTX560ti at about max-ish settings and get great FPS, until suddenly about 2 hours ago, the FPS drops down to about10 frames? What?! I've tried running L4D2 as well, a few months back last time I played it on max-ish settings it ran great! Now it runs at about 10 frames? What happened? I've had the side panel (of the case) off all day so the temperature has been about 34 degrees under-load with the fan speed at about 80%

So what happened to my fps? can anyone help?
Thanks.

I rebooted, apparently TF2 is validating it's files, but I blue-screened before this. But right now it's validating tf2's files and I shall test it out.

Be patient. If TF2 is validating files, you don't want to be running the game.

What are the rest of your system specs & OS?
Especially the specs of your power supply.

Sounds like the GPU is dropping out and recovering, without closing the game. I'd seen this happen sometimes in benchmarks, where the GPU clocks were O/C too much and thus the GPU would drop-out, but still run using the lower power state GPU clocks. Either there is an issue with your GPU, it's clock settings, or your PSU isn't strong enough to handle your setup. If you're getting random BSOD, this could also be related to your hardware issues, or be related to drivers or other corrupted software on your system.

First thing I'd try is manually lowering GPU clocks slightly, using MSI Afterburner (or similar program that gives such control over your GPU) and/or try a different GPU and/or PSU and run some tests.

THis is my PSU : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Alpine-Watt-...xp_grid_pt_1_1

It's a great PSU for the price, and I am running an AMD Phenom 8550 x3 (Yes I know it's ) and 4GB of DDR2 ram, Maybe the GPU is being bottlenecked? But I dont understand why that is happening, if it was running perfectly..? (The CPU, motherboard, and Ram are to be upgraded to an i5 2500k, and 8gb ddr3 ram)

seems like a PSU.

make sure you get one with 80 plus certification and a decent name like corsair.

Do you have another, decent PSU that you could replace it with and test your system? I can't find any reviews for that model but plenty of user reviews for other Alpine PSU's say that they are junk!
