Just disconnect from the wifi network & plug in a network cable, it'll automatically connect you via the cable.

Or to completely disable the wifi card go into your device manager & disable the device.

In windows vista or windows 7 hit start, and in the search box type 'device manager' and hit enter. in that window locate the 'netowrk adapters' category, expand it, right click on your wifi adapter & select 'disable'

disabling the card has no side efects apart from not being able to use it.

The card will be fine if you ever decide ti use it again.

Note that if you are running win7 it automatically routes traffic via the LAN connection if available. In the cmd do a

route print

And you should see the wifi connection has a higher route which is lower priorityZ

Start -> Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network and Sharing Center -> Wireless Network Connection (whatever it is named) -> Disable.

If this is not Win7, then google your OS with disable wireless card.
