Help! What is the Arcane stat?

I am Level 10 and just getting started. Love the game, but... I still have absolutely no idea what Arcane does.

What does it do?

Does it help your Reaper Energy?
Doesn't seem so.

Does it boost Ghoul power?

Does it help give more damage?
But there are other stats for this.

Any help greatly appreciated. I love the game and don't want to be missing out on something because I don't know what Arcane does.

Oh BTW I am going pure Necromancer and no Harbinger. How does this relate to the Arcane stat?

Arcane damage boosts the damage you do with your spells in the necromancy tree. Ghouls do more damage per attack, their fire aura hits harder and gives more fire damage on strikes, corpse explosion does more damage ... etc.

There is also a scythe that gets its damage enhanced by the arcane stat. As far as I know there are no secondary weapons that benefit from the arcane stat, but I could be wrong.

If you're not going Harbinger at all, it's probably worthwhile to get or focus on Arcane - at least, I'd imagine so.

arcane increases some stats (damage) of skills

I got this from another forum, I don't know how accurate it is, but it sounds about right:

Strength is the physical damage dealt from weapons and all the spell damage
from Death's Harbinger tree.

Arcane is all the damage dealt in Reaper Form and all the spell damage from Death's Necromancer tree.

The Arcane skill also increases the amount of elemental damage you do with weapons.

OK so indeed I am putting as much points as possible into Gift Found and Arcane Stat. Quite nice. Ghouls are doing quite well too.

Here's my strategy:

Primary weapon:
Fire, HealthOnKill, strikes increase Wrath.

Secondary weapon:
HealthOnKill, strikes increase Wrath. I now prefer Fast Damage.

Stuff:
Gift Found... Helps with finding stuff, makes looting chests rather worthwhile, I think.

Arcane (Necromancer skill tree):
They give me Health and Wrath on strikes.
