CS:GO makes my computer restart?

I just bought the game today (the day of this post) and I've attempted 3 times to launch it. And, all 3 times, the game has caused my computer to completely restart. I don't know what's happening or why, and every time Windows "checks for solutions" (as to why it restarted) it doesn't come up with a result. I have a good computer and I can run every other game I have on mid-max settings. Please help me!

People might be smart here but no psychics ...

Hardware? PC, Laptop? How old is the PC? OS?

A lot of times windows restarts or shuts down in programms when there are heat issues still it would be rather strange if it would happen right at the start.

The computer's almost brand-new, I bought it in April. OS is Windows 7 Home Premium, and it's a full desktop.

You mean it restarts without even opening the game or a little while after the game's open?

Without even launching the game. The screen'll go black, I'll have a huge cursor, then BAM. Restart.

Ah, what I expected. I had the same kind of fault when trying to open CryEngine 3 SDK. Although I don't see how this can be connected. Tell us your specs.

UPDATE: Apparently, it makes my PC completely bluescreen, not just restart, as does Portal 2. My specs are:

Quad-core AMD FX-4100
4 GB of RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1 GB
450 Watt power supply
500 GB HDD

Anything else?

Try this as soon as you enter the main menu screen after loading the game from steam.

1/ Press the console key
2/ Type in 'fps max 80' (should bring up only 3 options anyway)
3/ Press Console Key again.
4/ Play the Game as usual

Let me know how you get on.

Yeah, that's kind of the problem- it *begins* launching my game, then it bluecsreens me. So, I haven't *once* seen the main menu to DO any of those things.

There's a thread at the top marked [READ FIRST] that covers your problem. The FX-4100 is a Bulldozer CPU.
