You Can Get Banned For Mis-using Steam Greenlight
http://gyazo.com/9219541f28de09f8470...png?1346365013
My friend and I learned the hard way. If you make a fake Greenlight project, prepare to get banned a week from community features. I'm not contesting this ban, but I wish I could just make fake projects for the hell of it. I made my second project visible to friends only as an inside joke, and it got banned in seconds. You cannot change your avatar, name, comment on anything, or upload screenshots. At least chat still works. |

Stop ruining the new features with bull♥♥♥♥ like that. 1 week punishment is not enough for something like that.

Oh yeah... Let's take away space from legit games just so you can make a little joke...
No wonder you got a 1 week banned... Stick to the rules fella |

Tbh, thats how it should be. We can be happy to have something like this. And it would be a shame if it would get ruined by trolls.
Although I have to admit that some fakes were funny :P |

At least it's a one week ban and not permanent.

Yeah not a good thing but understand the inside joke thing. Problem is, if you thought of it, then 1000's of other have to. Place would be flooded with inside jokes and make Greenlight irrelevant. I think if its made private though, and kept that way it should not be a bannable offense. Humor is not Valves strong suit trust me though. My only 2 infractions ever on Steam were 2 jokes.

I think it's justified. Valve could risk getting sued if someone puts up a project that violates some sort of copyrights on Greenlight.
Also cuts out the crap. Funny crap but crap nonetheless. |

More or less this, this could possibly be a great new feature, and having people flood it with pointless crap because they think they're funny is just stupid.

I agree with all of you. Fake projects shouldn't be allowed for obvious reasons.

Just to be clear: I'm okay with the ban. Fake projects and other scams should be done away with and banned asap. What bugs me more than the community ban is the principle. Private projects shouldn't be moderated unless it's something extremely heinous like child porn. What harm is a fake project going to do if it's only allowed within a circle of friends?
