Wink Skyrim crash on load with hearthfire enabled

Bought heartfire now and set it on the load list right after dawnguard.esm.
But everytime starting skyrim it crashes on load.
Disabling it, skyrim works fine.
Any experiences here already?

Do you use other mods? Tried to deactivate them?

to add on this, it could be that there is a mod which is not compatible with the heartfire expansion.

A simple test is to disable all mods except dawnguard and heartfire. ( don't forget to backup your saves ) Then run the game. See if you can walk around fine.

Do you have Dawnguard and Hearthfire at the top of your load order? Here's where BOSS put mine...

  • Skyrim.esm Active
  • Update.esm Active
  • Dawnguard.esm
  • HearthFires.esm Active
Also go to the Steam Library, right-click on the Skyrim game, select Properties, then Local Files, then Verify your Game Cache.

I'm having a small problem as well. Bought Dawnguard, did not play. Bought Hearthfire.

Started from my latest save.

I built a small house, no problem. I went to Whiterun and if I try to enter Breezehome I crash to desktop.

I loaded a save before I built the house, went to enter Breezehome, crashed to desktop.

I think we have a bug alert. Let's see if I can figure things out.

EDIT:
OK. I disabled Dawnguard and the Unofficial Patch. Crash at Breezehome. Then Crash on restart multiple times. Enabled the above and disabled Hearthfire. Everything works.

Hearthfire seems to be buggy at this time. But I don't know why I'm crashing with Dawnguard disabled?

EDIT:
I went back and successfully started the game with Dawnguard disabled.
Disabled Hearthfire.
Started the game. Entered Breezehome , exited Breezehome.
Restarted with Hearthfire enabled. Crashed when entering Breezehome.

If anyones confused by now, so am I.

I was about to ask if you had started a new character with Dawnguard, but it doesn't seem to matter. I haven't activated mine yet.

So, I built my home outside Falkreath, no problem. Fast traveled to Breezehome and instant crash to desktop upon entering the home. CTDs are very rare in my game, so I agree, big time bug.

The SPUDDERS think The Unofficial Skyrim patch doesn't play well with Hearthfire. I'll try disabling that.

I cant disable Dawnguard without a crash.

Hearthfires look's to be a bit of a worry after reading the above post's.
Just disabled Hearthfires and I may have to leave this out of my game for the time being.

Watching this thread with interest.

Do remember there where many initial Bugs with Dawnguard for some or even a lot of users, NPC's not moving, map marker not showing, quest not kicking in, crossbow not given, etc. etc.

I saw not one of those with my usual and methodical New Start with New Content. If it continues, just try the "move save folder" out and start a new game, speed play to where your issues are and see what happens? I'd even leave your Mods on at first if you believe none should actually react to Hearthfire. Damn It we really need the TES5Edit, it would be simplicity itself to find a straight out Mod Conflict.

I know many managed to just keep going with old saves and its been the same since Morrowind, its bloody Beths Law (Sod's Law?) just depends on whose turn it is today?

EDIT: No I cannot break my own rules, I'll do Clean Start now its downloaded and we can actually compare what does or does not happen, might be more useful to us all that way?

Quoting myself. The patch is not the problem. Even with it disabled I have no Breezehome access with Hearthfire.

I just had success disabling USP. Re-enabled USP and it crashed again. (Dawnguard never activated)

snip
According to the wiki you will need to be lvl 22 or higher to complete one of the quests for the Dawnstar home, so you might want to try one of the other two locations instead.
