Failed to start game (app already running) ERROR

I just bought a game and when it finished download i tried to run it and it gave me the error Failed to start game (app already running).
It also happens on other games.
Please help.

name of the game might help

have you logged out of steam and restarted it

goto steam folder and delete everything but steam.exe and steamapp folder then run the steam.exe

If you press ctrl+alt+delete and go to the processes, is the game you are trying to run already in the list? If so, remove it from the list and it should work.

If you can't find the process that you need to exit, right click "Steam.exe *32" and then select "End Process Tree" it'll cut Steam out completely, then you can reboot it.

This keeps happening to me while playing CS:GO

I restart steam and still get this error and its really starting to jarate me off. Only since the free weekend has this started to happen. Tried everything to stop this from happening and yet is STILL KEEPS HAPPENING!!!!!

So annoying caint wait for this stupid free weekend to be done with.

FIX THIS !!!
