Is Steam down?

Because I can't log in, and I see no downtime announcement of any maintenance happening today.

What's happening when you try to log in? Any error messages?

I can't log in, either. When I (try to) open Steam, it says "Could not connect to Steam network. This could be a problem with your internet connection or the Steam network. Please visit www.steampowered.com for more info."

My internet connection is fine, I just can't connect to Steam. I'm in Indiana, if that makes any difference.

Well, I just reset my modem (AT&T Uverse) and was able to log in. Dunno if that was the problem, but it's working now.

Be patient, this sometimes happens when Valve is uploading content.

I am have the same problem. I was able to connect to my account this afternoon (@ 3:30 CT) but this evening I cannot connect to the server. Not surprised to see that there are lots of service tickets on the system...

Still annoying me here... when is this thing back up?

"Could not connect to Steam network. This could be a problem with your internet connection or the Steam network. Please visit www.steampowered.com for more info."

Steam runs on background but wont open, I then have to manually end it.

You don't need to delete or change anything just be patient.

It'll take a while for all the new content to get distributed - this is a pretty big update.

... I'm seeing a 534.8MB update here.
