Portal 2 PC finally gets split-screen co-op

Portal 2 PC finally gets split-screen co-op:

http://store.steampowered.com/news/9423/

My question is how can you play with keyboard & mouse as player 1 and a controller with player 2?

In the menu, it only says "Press X on controller 2".

What if you only have Controller 1 and the other player is using keyboard and mouse?

How does this work?

I"m having the same issue.

I even have two game pads, but they aren't both 360 pads. The game sees the 1 360 game pad and doesn't seem to want to let me run split screen.

I was having the same problem, fortunately there's a console command to fix it. Just put in:

joy_remap_player_for_controller1 2

and you can use the 360 controller for player 2, and mouse/keyboard for player 1. It works really well; more PC games need native split-screen support.

Hey, I saw that you friended me - sorry for ignoring you, didn't know who you were. XD

Anyway, not sure what the problem is. You might need to make sure that the Controller is enabled in the options before the console commands show up? I'm really not sure, but it's definitely in there:

Screenshot of it (shows the help text for the command too): http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/57...EE04C636A9C9F/

It works for me, and I got the command from this post by one of the devs.

Delete your config/settings files to reset the controls and settings. It worked for me.

I knew getting two XBox 360 controllers would pay off

So now I can beat my brother not only in emulators but also in Portal 2, muhahahh!

Oh crap. It's co-op. Damn!

I tried doing the split screen with keyboard and gamepad but even with the console command "joy_remap_player_for_controller1 2" but even then when I push the x button to start the split screen co-op, it instead brings me into the menu for finding an online friend. I am using a Saitek gamepad but using x360ce.

I also tried JoyIDs but that didn't work. Does anyone know how to get this working? Thanks.

This is awesome, but I really would rather have multi-monitor support so each player could have their own screen.

Hello there.

I wanna play with my brother Portal 2, through split screen ofc. The problem is - that command (even if I already type it) doesn't work. I'm trying to get in, clicking X on joypad, but it doesn't work too. I'm using PS3 controller (DS3 tool). Any ideas how to solve it?
