How to disable Steam window from popping up?

Whenever I start up my PC a Steam window now pops up, and I have to manually close it. This has been happening since last week or so, and I never changed anything about my settings. Is there any way to stop Steam from doing this besides turning off Steam auto-run?
Because I want Steam to auto-run when I start up my PC, I just don't want Steam windows to pop-up and stay on my screen.

Unless there is some advanced Windows or Steam setting/hack I'm unaware of, I don't know of any way to do this.

I guess you could try changing the Steam "favorite window" setting. A window will still pop-up, but maybe you could set it to something less annoying.

Naw I wish. Friends window is the smallest window I think. I don't understand why they would change it to something you can't turn off anymore, that's just annoying.

The window whichever I have set to favorites in Settings > Interface. But it never used to do this before, it only started doing this recently, like since last week.

OK, thanks for the info. I will see if I can get a repro and we will get working on a fix.

The startup code in the Steam client has changed recently, which probably accounts for the change. But silent mode is still supposed to be silent (except for notification toasts).

Silent mode works for me, oddly enough.

Are you sure Windows is set to launch Steam in silent mode?

If your talking about stopping steam for automatically starting up when you turn on your computer, you can go into msconfig and unclick steam from the startup tab.

Just as info, the way you want it is the way steam behaves for me. Since ever. And now too.
