de_cistern

Hey dudes,

DE_cistern for CS:GO is set in a water treatment facility and features a lot of custom content made by me. At the moment this is beta so expect some bugs but based on our feedback we'll decide what to do next. Thanks for your understanding!

Also I know this will be disliked but in order to have this much custom content it meant a very large filesize. I know people frown about this sort of thing but the main reason I made this was for my portfolio to get a job. We're dicussing making an SE version if people like it.

This has been a collaboration between William T. Nicholls and Richard Acherki.

I also documented my development thoughts in a .pdf called "The Making of Cistern" which can be downloaded here: http://upload.habboi.co.uk/makingofcistern_final.rar

It contains my methods for getting flow maps to work as well as some other things I experimented with. If you could please upload it to other places as I don't want my server to be overloaded. Cheers.

Enjoy!

Lol man! You're smart! I've always respected the mapmakers, because you need to be very smart, and most of all, intelligent to create a map! I just hope that it's balanced. If I may suggest you something: remove all the object that dont interact with the players (teddybear, watch, whiteboard, cone on A) because someone will steal your map and remake the map. Btw, put some youtube video with walkthrough on the map

Very good job again!

Wish you the best!

Thanks dude. Good luck to them, the content is embedded in the map and since the map is 70-80% custom they'll have their work cut out for them to replace it all.

Whereas I'm willing to do it for them professionally given time. I feel it's balanced but my main concern has always been how short the rounds are. See the layout was already made for me by Richard many years ago and I took it on and detailed it up.

It really depends on how people like it. I mean I really wanted to release this on the workshop way back when GO came out and it's been a long time since then. We'll see how things play out, it may end up being an unplayed map but a nice piece for the portfolio.

Thanks though.

I'm really enjoying this map so far. I still haven't had a chance to play it on a full 5v5 with human players so I can't comment too much on the balance, the bombsites have been really well designed any allow for a lot of interesting strategies.
From my little time with the map though I can say that A is a lot easier to defend than B due to how open B is.

Also is there meant to be a dead body down the hall at side of A since there is a pile of blood and paper but no security guard model?

Dude, awesome map, great design, style and looks soooooo pro.
Dont know how it will play in terms of ballance and player visibility, but from an aesthetic standpoint it looks really really great, the objects populate the map very well and it really looks like something bad happened there...

If its ballanced and competitively viable i think it could be a really good addition to CS:GO MM

awesome skills man.

+rep btw

Amazing looking map, and so far it's really fun, even if I can't say whether it'd be a good competitive map. It's just too bad about the file size, because it will mean that not many server owners will want to have it in the rotation. It'd be great if Valve made it an official map and forced everyone to download it in a patch

Jesus Christ this map is beautiful, and obviously made with competition in mind. You should congratulate yourself for making the most beautiful map thus far in CS:GO. The idea is something that has not been done before as well, and it's very refreshing to see!

Wow, this map is one of the best looking maps I've seen created for CS:GO, since I first looked at the community-made maps. Can't really speak about the balance, since I haven't tried it out on a real server yet, but I hope that its balanced enough for competitive play. I'm sure we'd all like to see more maps there. Great job on the map, and I hope that Valve sees this and makes it official.
