It won't be coming to steam unless Valve change their T&C or EA change their stance.

If you're lucky an "ultimate" version will eventually be released and that should be available on steam.

Before you preorder you do know that the game will be watered down to a 3rd person action shooter + it will microtransactions (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...better-weapons). Just warning you..

Eh though Origin is ok I often only want the ultimate editions anyway, so I think their policy is excellent.

As for microtrans, it's usually all available by normal play, they just sell fast-track for rich lazys. Imo it's probably the best business model in that regard.

I don't understand what the problem is. I had my first experience with uplay on Far Cry 3, and I was impressed with how much easier it was to set up then GFWL. I like the fact that I was able to get a Steam version, activate it, start it up, set up uplay and play. It was that easy. Now I have my game on Steam and I still have ubisoft promoting their stuff that I'll never buy. Win, win.

Why can't Origin do the same thing? It adds a platform to sell their product. It seems childish to me. It would be one thing if it was one or two games, I could accept that as a way to promote their platform but now they are just being dooches.

That's what they want you to think. The truth is these kinds of microtransactions deeply impact play for everyone because game design is intentionally tweaked to make people favor buying the upgrades instead of working for them. Have you played Battlefield 3? The unlock system is so slow and arduous to purposefully make it seem like a better option to just buy the premium pack.

Console port, no DX11 (it's 2013 for crying out loud), not available on Steam... Yep, EA isn't getting my money for sure.

Because then they would need to share DLC and micro-transaction money. Other sites let them sell only the base game, but steam requires that the DLC can be bought from them as well, and EA just doesn't want to split the money.
That being said, me and the person I'm going to play co-op with have decided to wait for this to hit about 5-10$, the game is starting to look more and more like a lazy cash in.

We don't know how hard the grind for weapons will be. Besides, it is not a free2play title but you pay the full amount for it.

My friend tried the demo on PS3, he says it looks like pretty bad.

I lost all interest in this game as soon as I heard that in app purchases were used to buy upgrades. The previous games' dlc was bad enough but sticking it in-game (and most assuredly modifying the drop rate of such items to non micro-transaction gamers) is too far. Hopefully this game bombs but knowing how stupid people are, ittl likely just be one more step towards every game being filled with IAPs selling power. This kind of stuff is bad enough in portable games that cost a dollar or are free for the base game, but in a 60 dollar game? Does greed have no limits?
