Steam Client Bootstrapper has stopped working.

I'm currently having a weird issue, weird because I was playing fine last night and today in the morning everything just broke, I can't log into Steam properly.

Error occurs once I finish logging in, once the main window and possibly update information window are about to open; I can even see in windows taskbar that I have a download about half-way [yellow progress bar filling the background of taskbar icon].

Difference between yesterday and today is I had some updates for my .NET framework and I don't think that Windows installed them after restart; since it said installation was successful right after it was finished.

I am running Windows 7 ultimate, 64-bit.

So far I have;
Disabled UAC, rebooted.
Re-installed steam, rebooted.
Checked if .NET is working fine, it was [atleast a tool said so].

Any help is appreciated.

This problem was solved for me by running it as administator & compatibility mode win XP SP 3, which steam strictly told not to do.. odd.
