Is scrap.tf legit?

It wants me to log in through Steam. Is it safe & legit?

Because having your account hijacked can be a very ed up experience. Some people, like me, with hundreds of dollars into their account... that's scary. I have paid for 53 plus games... I don't want someone stealing that from me.

Because they suffer from technologically impaired parent syndrome, Which causes them to think that firefox will steal your credit card or installing a game from a disk will give you a virus... But it's perfectly okay to google russian gangbangs on internet explorer. (Daddy's not satisfied with his love life.)

Does the fact that the login page is secured by Valve tell you anything?

It's not hard to mimic a page layout.

He meant the lock and the big green "Valve Corporation" that shows up on the address bar.

If you want to be safe, sign in via steam community, then go to the site. If it still asks you for your login details even though you're already logged in to the steam community, back away.

However, being logged in on one browser won't mean you're logged in to the community on another. Plus there's that security symbol on the URL bar to show that the page is safe / encrypted or something, not sure if that can be mimicked or not though

No, scrap.tf is a ring of hackers, hijackers, and carders...

He's talking about the SSL certificate. Plus, simply looking at the domain is enough to tell if it's a phishing attempt.

Still, I understand why he's asking; when you're not computer savvy and are evolving in an unknown world, it's hard to tell what is dangerous and what is not. Common sense works (it's even the best antivirus ever made, I mean it), but you still need to have basic computer knowledge to apply it.

On topic: as some mentioned, scrap.tf is perfectly safe, and working great. A lot of websites use the official API made by Valve to log through Steam. You should see that same page over and over again, which URL starts by https://steamcommunity.com/, and which mentions the website that you will log to. The site itself will NOT keep your personal data, only ask Valve/Steam it you're the correct person.

I can vouch for ScrapTF, I know the head of the place personally and he's a good guy.

It logs you in the same way that tf2outpost, tf2tp, bazaar, etc do. It's safe.
