A question for card traders

Since I seem to be the only person on tf2outpost doing straight, 1:1 swaps of tf2 cards, how's the 1:2, 3:2, 1:1 + 1rec/scrap business going for you?

Also, how well are your sets selling for keys?

I know the economy's full of idiots, but I have to say I'm kinda surprised at the business you're doing. I guess I can't believe people will spend that much on profile flair.

People are actually doing 1:2 and all of that!? What the hell is wrong with people.

Actually, strike that. It operates on a credit system which either isn't working properly yet, or is just as bad as any 1:2 swap.

To be fair, this is exactly what kids would do with actual trading cards.

And I'm thinking about baseball/movie cards. When they started making trading card games, you wouldn't believe the bad trades that were made.

If people pay it, let em. I'll 1:2 if I have 5 or 6 of the same ones laying around (and it happens constantly) and I want one I don't have. I'm not going out of my way to get them, but if I have them laying about and need a couple more to complete the set, I'll overpay, I don't care. I get what I want and some mouthbreather "profits" off it, win-win.

The only logical way of doing card trading is 1:1. They're all the same except each have a different class. One card is not worth more than another. Whoever want 2:1 is an idiot.

It's just like normal trading. 1 scrap for 1 a weapon? Ridiculous.

"If I get no profit, then why waste time for trading in the first place?"

^ how everyone who trade 2:1 thinks.

It only makes sense though.

This isn't an internship there is no long term reward for doing 1:1 in fact there's generally the negative result of having to deal with masses of a-holes trying to make a profit off you.

I suppose if you get joy from being a charitable person you could 1:1 but at that point why not just give them away to people who you know need them or want them on your friends list.

I do 1:2 because I have multiple complete sets that I can trade pretty easily for any items I'm looking for.

If someone wants to get just 1 card and break up a set, it better be worth my while.

I did card + 1 scrap only to finish the last card I needed in a set.

It's just quick that way.

That only works if there's an even pool of every card.
If Valve is smart (and it's enough as to devise this clever way of taking money out of the kids) Not all cards will have the same rate of drop.
Eventually people would see that there are more [X]cards than [Y]cards, and that people will start asking more for them.
It won't be as noticeable on TF2 (due to sheer card volume) as on other games, where card supply will be far more scarce.

People will start valuing worth based on scarcity. Say goodbye to 1:1 trades.

I went and took a look at the marketplace and i found this:
Code:
Class	Cards %of total
	on sale cards sold
scout 1040 = 10.82%
soldier 1040 = 10.82%
pyro 863 = 8.9%
demoman 1225 = 12.75%
heavy	1137 = 11.83%
engi 1010 = 10.5%
medic 1125 = 11.71%
sniper 1037 = 10.80%
spy 1133 = 11.79%
There are already some class cards more scarce than others. It's just a matter of time before people start taking advantege of this. specially with other games where the supply of cards will be more scarce.
