If CS:GO goes f2p..

How will we deal with the cheaters? If someone cheats in matchmaking and is banned through overwatch, what is preventing them from just signing up with a new steam ID and downloading the game again? I would think that the game costing money is keeping at least some people from doing this right now.

How would valve make money if the hackers aren't buying new accounts?! :P

I suppose Valve could start vac banning hardware IDs and/or credit cards. there are ways around this but the average cheater probably wouldn't bother or know how to do it.

MM could also require a certain number of hours played, so brand new accounts could not jump right into MM.

I know Nubula is sort of being facetious, but it brings up a good point. It's not a sustainable business model to make it f2p.

if CS:GO goes f2p, then operation payback maps could be allowed on competitive. hackers then have to pay to play again, or stick to the old maps.

or something like that. i'm sure valve can think of something.

Well, if it went F2P, it would have the casual modes be free and you'd have to pay to play competitively. Even TF2 has a premium to pay to be able to access certain features in the game, like faster item drops and initiating trades.

F2P =/= All features totally free

I for one don't want the game to go free at all. Its worth paying for.

There are TONS of reasons why CSGO needs to be free2play..

1. Dota 2 and TF2 are f2p, stealing the attention away from CSGO
2. New generation of players are not familiar with OldSkool shooters
3. New generation of games are easy as ****. CSGO is too difficult for 70% of kids to invest money on.

No matter how much we hate FP2 (I miss the old tf2 D: ) people have forgotten about Counter Strike and we must find a way to "introduce" it to the crowd.
This will allow Valve to eventually create a big-budget, $60 Counter Strike 2

Why would you EVER want CS:GO to go F2P?

Just look how terribly that worked out for TF2 (and how wonderful it worked out for Valve's pockets)

The price is already ridiculously low. Sometimes 5 dollars during sales.

It won't happen...in the near future. When GO will have a very low amount of players...f2p would make sense then.

if GO become f2p, then they have to come with something stronger then overwatch >>>ANTI-CHEAT<<<
otherwise i uninstall this game, and move on to another scene

matchmaking becomes premium content, have to pay to use it even for casual or fun modes

Imo overwatch anticheat is good enough. More players -> eventually more overwatchers -> faster reaction to cheaters.
Reaction is already kinda fast, compared to old times when we spammed tons of demos on that forum and that guys was not banned even after half of year, so i think overwatch is the way.
