To better understand the drop system

So far, it seems to work the same as TF2's drop system. I'll compare the similarities.

The knives seem to be the TF2 equivalent of an unusual item. There is a 1% chance of getting an unusual item when you open a crate. It's basically a hat/misc with special effects, like fire or sparkles coming out of it. They're very rare and can only be achieved through opening a crate. Weapon cases seem to be the equivalent of crates in TF2. You buy a key, you get a weapon. You usually a weapon (weapon skin in CSGO), with a small chance of a hat (the stat track weapons in CSGO) and a tiny chance at an unusual (knives in CSGO).

There are different series of crates in TF2, every few weeks, a new series is added and every few months, several series of crates will stop dropping. Also, during special events, a special series of crates is released, usually with themed items in them (at christmas, a Smissmas series of crates was released, and inside, the same items came out as a regular crate, except with christmas lights on them).

Judging by what's happened so far and TF2's drop system, here's what I think is happening. You get 2 drops per week, a crate and a weapon skin. Certain items can only be obtained through crates, such as stat track weapons and knives. Every Thursday, your drops get reset and you can get another two drops. If you don't play for a week, your drops will carry over to the next week and you can get 4 drops that week. However, the drops will only carry over for 1 week.

To better understand the TF2 drop system, go here.

I'll do another thread another time to explain what the rarity of items and the continual addition and subtraction of crate series will mean.

You mean 4 drops per week (2 skins and 2 cases).

I'm starting to think the drop system is not so random as Valve claims. I think something defiantly plays a part on who is getting what.

I sold alot of stuff on the market mainly alot of TF2 i had crafted and gotten through some pre-orders, stuff like that. So i decided to buy some CSGO cases. i bought 2 CSGO cases and 2 Esports. i got exactly the same guns twice in each case. stupid mp7 skull and mag7 momento. and i got mag7 magento in a drop last week also.

I've also noticed players with low hours and generally new get majority of the good skins during drops. i dunno, maybe im just going COoCoo. I watched a twitch feed the other day where some dude had about 15 cases that he opened live. he got like 6 of the same skins over and over also. i wouldnt call this random.

We should maybe start a thread with hours played \ mains guns used and what drops we have gotten. just a thought.

No, 2 drops, 1 crate, 1 skin. This item/drop system is loosely based around TF2's, which resets on Thursdays. So if you got he update and played on Wednesday, then you got 2 drops on Wednesday and then 2 on Thursday, after the drops reset. If you miss yur 2 drops, they still carry over and you can save them for 1 week, but you can't carry over missed drops for more than 1 week.

I have two accounts, and it seems that 4 drops per week is what you can get.. 2x skin, and 2x crates (either cs:go or esports, seems random)...

they also seem to drop in pairs.. skin one game, then crate the next, or vice versa. then about 24 hours later, il get the next two.

majority of people got 4 drops for the week. not 2. i got 2cases and 2 skins the first two days.

and it looks like it reset today. cause i just got a csgo case drop after not getting anything after my first 4 drops last week.

I still think its 4 drops per week.

I got 2 on last thursday and 2 last friday, and it seems the drop cap has reset today (wednesday). Unless it has the same system were it accumulates the drops you didnt got.

you might not be wrong, but I've also had 4 drops last week, and in that case the "drops saved for next week" thing doesn't apply cause there were no skins 1 or 2 weeks ago...

The week the update was released I got 4 drops. Then the drops reset Wednesday and I just got my fourth drop for the week tonight. I've had 8 drops, you are certainly not right.

2 skins and 2 cases per week appears to be the norm.

I'm sorry but there's no way they programmed it so new players get better drops.
