You don't need to login to make an offline profile. You just press Home on the game menu, go to create a new profile then scroll down to the blue text that says create local profile.

Still, it would be better to just remove GFWL from the games completely now.

It may be worth downloading the latest GFWL client now, creating a local profile now and then backup both the client installer and their xlive folder to Disc/Online/USB/whatever for the future (for those games that work with offline profiles at least).

You're better off using Codemasters' forums than here, or probably even their customer support.

But Steam is also a DRM and it doesn't stop people buying games
Also people would probably buy the sequels anyway if game is good enough

There is no reason to e-mail them, GFWL is not shutting down.

Yes GFWL is shutting down July 2014 that is why Developers and Publishers have months to patch out the DRM!

Don't bother arguing, he does this all the time. Just leave him find out himself next July.

... as all of them, except Dirt 3, do not require Games for Windows Live to play.
Do you see the problem here? You said they require GFWL after they told you it's not true.

What's Codemasters doing any way. Never brought the GRID DLC to PC even though it was pretty much a matter of copy and paste in order for it to function. They ruined the GRID franchise with GRID2. DiRT showdown :| ewww...

Big thumbs down for Codemasters

The Overlord series and FUEL both do not require GFWL. I think they both have SecuRom though.

The dude that wrote email is just a customer support advisor. He might not even be aware about GFWL shutting down next year. He's most likely just pasting a generic reply he has been trained to.

I hope they do the right thing by removing GFWL games from the store if they are not updated to remove their GFWL requirements, otherwise they'll basically be selling broken products.

If they did then there would be tons of people asking for compensation.

The CM staff here seem to think they ARE looking into it: http://community.codemasters.com/t5/.../332832/page/4

At the moment I don't know - I'll be dammed if I let anybody kill off DiRT3 and I'm sure thats the last thing anybody wants. We have a fair bit of time before any of that happens though and I assure you guys we are working on a solution.

RE our other games, I believe all the ones with GFWL are being looked at but sadly have nothing to announce at the moment.

Correct, not required, however to save the game it is required, with DiRT 2 it doesnt let you save if you do not first authenticate with GFWL
