Steam Games - Abandoned | Poor Quality Projects

Hi fellows,

the recent events (I'm talking about Earth: Year 2066 and Towns) led me to be scared about some steam games. The problem is: what games?

So, basing on your experience, can you report a list of games that risk to be removed from steam soon since abandoned projects or ridiculous quality games?

Thanks

I saw the title and though towns instantly.
To be fair I got a good 15 or 20 hours out of towns before it hit steam but never really notice it move on from then.

I am not sure that a list of games that 'risk' being removed from steam is something that will ever take off however.

Why would they remove Towns? A lot of games stopped development and are still on Steam. Some may argue that the game is not done yet but it surely is not a broken mess (which it was on its release).

Maybe if you owned the game you would see how un-finished it is.

Maybe he owns it on desura and traded his steam key. Why did you leap on his profile after reading his post?

I checked to see if he was playing the same game that i was playing.
And noticed he did not even have it.
Also bs if he had it on desura i'm sure he would have used the steam key for himself.

So...what happens if you own a game on steam which no longer is on steam?! Can you still play it / install it?

I tried once to read the terms, but it never became clear to me what happens if a game is removed or...worse, if steam is shut down?!

Towns isn't going to be removed.

Valve / Publishers will not remove games from your account except for extreme circumstances. One example is a game where servers are shutting down and the game is worthless without them.

I believe even some games that lost their servers weren't removed from libraries.

As said Valve just removes them from the store, certainly almost never from libraries. If you own it it's yours forever, even if it's no longer sold.
Ghostbusters is one of the oldest examples of removed games, Deadpool was the latest. People who bought them still own them. And if you're lucky enough of getting a steam gift of the game, you'll be able to add it to your library.

Games going in and out of the stores is not a recent occurrence, by far.

Understood.

I had steam for some time, but recently became a fan (mainly because I am now located in a different country and don't want to buy retail from here).
But since then, I decided to start moving (when possible) my retails to the steam account.

...of course, like in every situation, only after the action, the questionmarks came

Thank for your answers.

Yes.
Earth Year 2066 was removed from the Store page for other reasons. (And refunds were issued.)

Outrun is one that I had no issues installing again.

I believe the OP is talking about "Early Access" games?

I have Outrun!!!

Prey was the first non Steam retail disc game I added to my Steam account by just inputting the cd-key. Lord that was ages ago. PS: added Prey Aug 8, 2007.

Ghostbusters: The Videogame is a must buy if one is a Ghostbusters fan. Glad to see it back on Steam for those that don't have it.

I have to get back to finishing it. What I played so far is great. It is really Ghostbusters 3 if they would have made this a film.

I did hear the other Ghostbusters game is not so good?
