Dedicared or listen server?
Ok, if I wanna play some bots, which server would play better, dedicated or listen server?
Note, I have the server on the same machine I play on. So that means that the dedicated server runs in the background on the machine that I play on. I usually make a listenserver with bots and play, but it gets a bit laggy. Would it be smoother with a DS in background instead. LAN only. AMD 64 3500+ 1 gig ram pc 3200 win xp. |

I don't think it would run smother with a dedicated server with your spec... But then again, if you have trouble as it is then there is no reason for you not to try running a dedicated server. The problem I forsee it the processor. The speed is more than enough to run a server by itself, the problem is that it does not multitask the same way as a hyperthreading processor. Everyone I have heard of that use Athlon 64 processors from the playing computer has ended up with problems. It works fine as long as they dont use the computer themselves.
