very idiotic question but... placing objects
when i try to move objects i can move them to the edges of the little squares. but i want to be able to drag it wherever i want not just between squares how do i set this?

Erm...you cant. You can minimise the grid (by pressing "[" key), but it will still stick to edges.

well then how do i make a door which is small stick to a wall and a wall on the other side which is big and crosses half of the box?

Hold ALT and it will release from snapping to grid.

be careful creating geometry off the grid. it's generally a bad idea.

instead of not aligning it to the grid, just make the grid finer. It will give you more control. There are two buttons up at the top left of the toolbar, under the file button. They have a + and - on the icons.
