GUI and MOTD editors?

I'm making my custom mod and have already started working on the coding aspect. While I'm not new to computer science, I am brand spanking new to the source SDK. Are there any utilities for changing the menu splash screen (I think it's the lost coast background right now) and/or the MOTD so the whole screen doesn't go checkerboard on me?

Thx for the reply. Yeah, that's what I wanted to know so I can stop the .bsp from loading at the main menu.

And I apparently was blind last night and didn't notice the documentation on http://developer.valvesoftware.com/w..._Documentation. I can't wait to go home and mess around with those.
