-gordan realises that he is the ultimate combine weapon of destruction, who has been played the whole time. >> - Alyx to die, so gordan isn't held back any more (*darkside points gained*) - New Weapons. And a harder hitting smg / assault rifle. - a huge mech. I want a moment in which to stick it to the combine striders and blow them apart in the 10's. - more intense soundtrack for big firefights. - Vortigaunts!! need more!! - Special Kills, like the ones alyx does and the ones the vorts do, those are fun to watch. Don't wants: - no more trying to recreate ravenholm (rebel base much?) - less huge detours to press button to run back through endless combine to go through gate. No player vehicle sections. The whole game should be on foot.
However i don't mind vehicles sections where we have to travel and its not player controlled. |

The chopper will definetly be used, but I doubt we'll be the ones flying it.

And weapons, we always start out with the gravity gun first then get the others on the way thru the game.The gravity gun has always been given to us, and the rest of our weapons gone at the start of episodes. So it opens like it closed at Alyx on the floor then we can get up & move around soon after kliener,magnusson come in,react,talk with alyx.Then dog gives us the gravity gun after the conversation and before takeoff? That would defeat necessary expository scenes. We need to see Kleiner and Magnusson's reactions first-hand, as soon as they see what's happened.
Furthermore, I very much doubt Eli's death has affected the G-Man in any meaningful way. |

Although it's true, I don't think that opening the third episode with the mourning and lingering of Eli's death an entirely great one. Of course, his death will echo throughout the game, but I don't see it as a starting point for Episode 3. It would just make it seem too played out, and slow down the pace and enthusiasm (in terms of wanting to) of flying north.

How would it be too played out? I'd be severely dissapointed if Valve chose to start the game in any other way. Purley because of it's narrative and emotional signficance it screams for an opening devoted to it.
The big question is, did Gordon faint? If he did, then your suggestion seems more likely. If he did not, then the game will start as soon as Episode Two finished. |
