Purchase the rights to SiN

This is something I have been thinking about for a while. SiN and Half-Life similar games. They were released around the same time and both very enjoyable. While Half-Life may be the more critically successful game, SiN is a very good game as well.

Some of you may remember that a few years back SiN made a come back with SiN: Episodes. There was slated to be 9 episodes released every 6-8 months that would essentially be SiN 2. Once again the first episode of SiN, Emergence, was released around the same as Half-Life 2: Episode 1 was released. Again most of the awards went to Half-Life and not as many to SiN.

I think that VALVe should acquire the rights to the SiN game and continue on from where Ritual left off. I think that if VALVe purchased the rights to the SiN game they will add another strong game to their Half-Life line up of games. Most of the ideas behind SiN are very good ideas that lack the super fine polish that VALVe games are known for.

One of these ideas is the Dynamic Difficulty System that was developed for the SiN Episodes. I think that this was one of the best things that I had seen because it kept everything on an even difficulty. I think the system would work wonderful in the Half-Life series of games as an alternative to the standard easy, medium and hard.

Another concept is 'The Arena' which was added post release. The player is dropped into a room with spawning enemies and must stay alive as long as possible.

I also think that if VALVe did purchase the SiN rights and developed future SiN games (either continuing the episodes or making a SiN 2 straight up) a lot of the people from Ritual (that either work for Mumbo Jumbo, the company that bought out Ritual or others that left for other companies) might gain interest in the project and try to join forces. This can only be beneficial to have lots of experienced developers who made SiN share their knowledge on what makes SiN and all other areas of development.

I really liked SiN: Emergence and was eagerly awaiting the second installment in the series but was gutted to learn that it would not come since Mumbo Jumbo bought our Ritual Entertainment.

I hope that enough SiN lovers will see this topic and post their support so that VALVe will see how many fans there are out their, waiting to get their next 'SiN' fix.

(Also I'm sure VALVe could find a way to 'showcase' their new jiggle bone feature in SiN...maybe on a character...)

Yes it will be nice. Please Valve hear our sounds and buy the SiN rights. This is one of the best game series in game history. We all want John Blade's return.

I shall buy it! Among other things, but my PayPal doesn't co-operate. I will soon.

Holy crap, I was just about to post this kind of thread! xD

Yes Vavle should defiently continue the story, plus the rights can't cost THAT much for Vavle as "MumboJumbo" (Ugh) bought Ritual Entertainment,, right?

Yes this would be wonderful if it happened. It'd be very nice for there to be actually more than one episode so that Sin Episodes can finally live up to the plural.

There is something fishy going on in the Ritualistic forums, a guy keep telling the people who post there that he has something big he wants to share with the rest, I'm hoping it's a mod.

Down the pan for starters. Life has taken over and such.

Regarding the rest, I do not see Ritual / MJ selling their IP of the SiN World.

Why do think that?

Because it would make no business sense.

I would love for Valve to do it, but SiN Episodes didn't make as much money as was hoped and it would just be a potential loss for them to shell out the cash for the rights.
