Are you trying to retrieve your account information? If you are trying to reset your password, you have to check your email account that your steam account is registered to and see what pass phrase is which is listed in the automated email support.

Red face ME, TOO! Someone please HELP.

I will be posting a new thread with this problem, and I wanted to bump this thread up. Did you ever get your issue resolved? What did that question mean?

PLEASE HELP>>>>>>>What the hell does this question mean???
"What did customer support last reset your passphrase to?"

I reinstalled Steam today to my primary hard drive in order to make room for downloading DoD:S. Upon reinstalling, I had to re-enter my user name and password. My settings were always on remember because I never remember. Every site/place/whatever has different acceptable password guidelines, so I always forget what password is for what.

I have no idea what they reset my password or "passphrase" to. I don't keep old eMails that long, and it was probably some random phrase that I would never remember. I eMailed them and sent a question through the support login area.

In any case, this is the eMail I received upon beginning the "Retrieve a Lost Account" option for forgetting passwords:

Quote:
Dear Steam user (account name: xxxxxx),

This is an automated message generated by Steam account administration to help you reset your Steam password.

Please enter the following code into the 'Verification Code' field of the 'Forgotten Password' dialog. (Enter the code exactly as written. You can use copy/paste operations to enter the code):

xxxxxxxx

Please also enter the *answer* to the following question into the 'Secret Answer' field of the same dialog:

What did customer support last reset your passphrase to?

IMPORTANT: Please do not reply to this message to attempt to reset your password -- that won't work. You must enter the above information into the Steam application.

Signed,

Yea WTF kind of question is this, I'm properly stuck now. Not to mention that I didn't even forget my password in the first place, it just stopped accepting it...???

I've never heard of a more ridiculous secret question, where even the person whose account it is cannot answer it.

Thanks a bunch for the hassle steam! x

The problem for me is that this automated message isn't showing up in my inbox. I tried to reset my password almost an hour ago now and still no message.

I had this problem too. I contacted steam support and gave them some info to prove I was the account holder. They resetted my password and passphrase.

I've put in a ticket almost an hour ago as well, just waiting for a reply now.

I think I waited 2 days for an answer. It wasn't anything critical because I had just forgotten my password.

Yea, mine is kind of critical. I believe that my account has been hijacked. So the sooner I can get a reply and change my password, the better.

I think problems with hijacked accounts are answered faster.

That would be quite helpful.
I guess it's just a waiting game for now.

Please let us know if you get it back. It's quite interesting to hear if people get their account back. Most people asks for help, but never tell if they actually get the account back or not.
