EA says: "EA will not create the patches. EA didn't engineer the game, VALVE did"

QUESTION:
Is a patch planned for the Orange Box? This game is unplayable.

ANSWER:
Honestly, EA will not create the patches. EA did not engineer/program the game. Valve did.

VALVE says it's up to EA, EA says it's up to VALVE. I do not care who is right or who is wrong here, all i want to know is when will THE ORANGE BOX for PS3 be fixed?

It probably won't happen at all. Seriously, I suggest you pawn your ps3 copy while it's still worth $20, maybe $30. Count you're losses and move on, this product is worthless on that platform.
You could buy the PC version with the money you get back. Not really so much of a loss at that point, now is it?

EA has always been more interested in making a quick buck than a quality game. Personally I would have preferred that there not be a ps3 version at all, rather than this cruddy one.

From reading other threads I've gathered that the only way EA will ever lift a finger is if valve bribes EA to do it (seeing how EA owns the rights to the PS3 port). Valve won't put down the money.

I'd be glad if I was wrong, but I sincerely think I am not.

In that case i'm getting rid of my copy. I have no place in my home for products of a sub-standard nature that will not recieve fixes.

To EA: You've alienated your consumer base through lack of decent aftersales support. How does it feel being the most shambolic games company on the planet?

To Valve: sorry but this will never be forgotten, it is beyond a joke that you would pass your beautiful game to such a mediocre company known for producing lacklustre PS3 titles!!!

So VALVE, i see you have deleted many posts here...yesterday we were on 2 pages.
Was it that what the posters had said were true? I'm talking about VALVE's malicious plan of course, which consisted of releasing {on purpose, a broken copy of} THE ORANGE BOX for PS3 so that with time these gamers would give up and purchase a PC + the VALVE product..a great move for both valve and microsoft.

Shame on you guys...deleting posts to cover up the story.

Oh and just what are you waiting for to reply to this thread? You passed by here to delete the posts, but you did not bother responding. We're waiting for answers.

Um, no offense but I am really not buying your conspiracy. I have read both your post and the "conspiracy" article on N4G, and I am simply not buying it. Your idea that Valve would sabotage it's own product on the PS3 with the hopes that consumers would abandon the PS3 platform as a whole (because one game didn't work) and then go out and spend 2-5k on a PC to play Orange Box is insanely ridiculous.

Why is it ridiculous? Well for one, Valve makes no money directly from the sales of PCs. Second, Valve as a company is doing very well and it's steam service is doing better than ever. For a company doing as well as Valve to engage in a massive conspiracy on the scale you claim, is just an insane line of thinking. The number of people who may switch to PC gaming because of the Orange Box's failure on the PS3 is minuscule compared to the now jaded PS3 gamers who will be wary of buying any Valve products in the future, regardless of what platform they are on.

I have been a gamer for a very long time and I have NEVER given up on an entire platform because one game was buggy. Hell, if that was the case I would have stopped being a gamer altogether a long time ago. Games, like any other product of modern technology, can have problems, failures, etc. The amount of time, effort, and money that goes into making a modern big budget game is insane, to think that the entire Orange Box development team engaged in a conspiracy to sabotage their own creation on the PS3 is beyond ridiculous.

I am not one to deny conspiracies happen. In fact I might be a little on the paranoid side at times. However, in this case I just don't see it. The risks of this "scheme" outweigh the rewards 100 fold, add to that the size and scope of modern game development and it's just not possible. There is simply no way a conspiracy of this scale could ever be successful, especially not when the alleged conspirators have nothing to gain from participating and little to lose (their job at the most) from coming forward. The only person who would benefit from said conspiracy would be Gabe Newell, and the only benefit he would see would be a pump to his ego. Usually most participants in a conspiracy remain loyal out of fear of being killed or going to jail, not bruising someone's ego. If a Valve employee stepped up and got fired they would have a nice law suit on their hands anyway.

I just don't see a man who has built one of the most popular and successful PC gaming companies in the world risking his (and his companies) entire future on something so stupid and petty. On top of that as I have said numerous times, it would be next to impossible to get the entire development team, the QA department, and EA involved. I'm sorry, but you fail.

@ killalaz: All i can tell you is that, whether you like it or not, posts stating what i have brought up above HAVE BEEN DELETED. Now how it has made its way to N4G or some other sites, i simply have no idea. Someone used my post to make up story. Surely people who were here yesterday informed some news sites about it. Look at the number of people who visited this thread..they're nearly 2000. i'm simply one of nearly 2000 people who visited this thread, and noticed posts got deleted. That's it.

Posts get deleted by forum moderators not Gabe Newell, I doubt he even reads the forums. They were probably deleted because they were BS and/or broke forum rules.

Besides all that this is a private forum and they can delete whatever they want. Just because a few whiny Hammer Legion Member's posts were deleted is no reason to jump to a "massive conspiracy involving thousands of people to sabotage the PS3" conclusion.

Seriously, take a few deep breaths and think about what you are saying here. It's completely bonkers.

@ killalaz: you still did not get my point. This whole thing isn't my conspiracy. I have simply stated that deleting the posts make them suspicious. Being a ps3 gamer, i certainly am concerned. That's all.

It doesn't make "them" suspicious at all. Do you even know how an online message board works? Very rarely (if at all) do game developers moderate their companies message board, it would be a complete waste of their time.

Deleting trolling posts from a forum is not suspicious behavior, it is an everyday occurrence.

Sorry to burst you bubble dude but there is nothing crazy going on here. Did PS3 Orange Box owners get the shaft? Yeah, they did. Is there any kind of foul play involved? Extremely unlikely. The PS3 version is an outsourced port of TF2 and as such Valve didn't even make it, so why would they need to "cover things up" about it on their forum?

@ Killalaz: How would i know? All i can tell you is that EA did not set up an official THE ORANGE BOX forum, but steam did. Where is the place ps3 gamers should express their concerns and troubles? Right here.
