Limit On Friends/Groups List?

Hey guy's, the title is basically the question, is there a limit on the amount of friends or groups you can have on Steam? If so, what is the limit of each? Because I'm starting to get 100+ friends, and all I keep in basic contact with and I have alot of groups.

In late 2007, apparently the limit was 150. Not sure if that is true now, however.

Would anyone be able to confirm this or if there has been a lift on the amount of friends or groups?

There is pretty neat solution for this, create a group named 'XXXMasonXXX Friends' and invite everyone there.

You don't need to know people personally to be their friends. I only know a few people's first names on my friends list but I just stick to their game name. These are people I enjoy spending my time playing various different games with and we play enough together and post in the same forums to be in the same groups and mutual friends.

They are also all people I know how they sound like as we all will use TS and vent to talk to each other and learn more about each others problems and personnel life, sometimes when we don't even want to.

Looks like I have no friends then. Let's call them game buddies.

Do many people that you know online give out their first or second names? I try not to.

There is definitely still a 150 person limit on how many friends you can have.

Well Steam needs to update it to maybe five hundred max, because I'm sure people want more than just 150 friends on Steam, I mean I have 300+ buddies on MSN and of course I don't know every single person but just for them to be there without removing half of them.

I do gree with you...I hit 150 friends quite a lot and it does get a bit tedious having to go through my friends list every week or so and remove five or six people that I don't talk to as often. So that others, who you probably talk to a bit more, can add you or you add them.

It's probably capped for a reason though.

Yeah, but 150 is way to small for most power users of Steam.

And I'm betting that VALVe doesn't remember all their millions of customers names off the top of their heads... so, can they really call them customers?

YES !

Power Customers / Users have lots of friends per game.

I've tried to add people with 120 friends and it says "unknown's friend list is full" Same with people with ~20 friends.

To me 150 people on your friends list seems crazy. Do you even play games or chat with all of those people? Also, it'd make it hard to find the "real" friends in a list of 150 people.
