Connecting Steam account

Hai, right now my steam is stuck on "Connecting Steam account [accountname]"

It's not the first time this is happening. It's been like this for about a week..

The only thing that seem to "solve" this problem is restart steam until it works..
I've restarted it about 100 times today.. Rage.

Deactivating my antivirus doesnt work.
Deleting the .blob doesnt work.
Reinstalling Steam doesnt work.

Did you download something right before Steam started doing this? If so, what was it?

Have you checked your computer for malware?

You could try performing a clean reinstall of Steam - Cleanly reinstalling Steam

If you do so, be sure to follow the steps in that FAQ. Dont forget to backup your steamapps folder, for example.

Before you re install. I'd like to point out that I can't get onto steam at the moment either.

I log in virtually every night and haven't had this problem for 6 months or so.

I think some steam servers are probably down, hopefully it will be fixed soon because I'm 100% sure every things fine at my end with my connection, settings, etc.

Give it an hour or so.

Are you sure that your ISP isn't blocking Steam?

Solution which worked for me

Hi there,

I had the same problem. It took steam more then 10 minutes to start. It happend suddenly around 10 days ago and was really annoying.

I did following: I deleted steamclient.dll, SteamUI.dll, Steam.dll and the ClientRegistry.blob file from my steam folder, then i started steam. After the steam update you can login!

Works for me really.

Kaski.
