This forum is mainly for Steam issues - if you have a problem mapping, you might wanna try posting a thread here: http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...play.php?f=193

It's looking like that because map is a simple box, if you want a background(like in Valve maps) you need to add a 3D Skybox.

He could be referring to the nodraw texture on the back of the walls? but normal maps have that, well usually. It is actually better if the walls are see-through on the ouside, it makes the map run better

(show us what you are comparing it to in normal maps)

He is reffering to Nodraw.

In a normal map like gg_csbase it will look like this from inside the map http://www.clandisa.dk/images/gg_csbase0000.jpg if i then go outside it will look like this http://www.clandisa.dk/images/gg_csbase0001.jpg i have add skymap to my maps and i not use nodraw i do that first time but if this is normal i will do nothing about that problem.

Thanks for quick answer and good service :-)

I'm a noob who just happened to read this;
but what do you mean make the outside walls nodraw?
I know what nodraw is and i know how to use it...

But what I don't know is how to make one side of something one texture, and the other side a different texture?

With this tool you can apply different textures on the 6(+) sides of your brush.

That's perfectly fine. As long as players can't see the outside of your map normally, it won't matter if it's textured with NODRAW. In fact, texturing any brushes that can't be seen with NODRAW is a good habit to get into.

Press CTRL + A to open the face edit window and select the NODRAW texture from the Browse menu. Then, right click on any brush face that you want textured with NODRAW. You can also select a single brush texture with the left mouse button and apply that texture to another brush with the right mouse.

Besides, its better to add nodraw texture to every brushside that player cannot see. This improves fps and makes the map run better.
