Setting a limit on Steam download bandwidth seem like a very sensible suggestion. Now I think about it, its strange that it is not already a feature.

Anyway since no one replied after me I'm going to bump because I seriously thing Steam should get a simple download speed limiter.

Wait-wait-wait-wait-wait... what? Say that again? 2.1MB/s?! Where the hell are you? And why is my Comcast so 'craptastic'?

Haha. I know, but I was jealous.

Anyway, a steam-based throttle would be great for my work. Yet, there is nothing concrete outside of pausing installations/downloads. Totally screws up the local network taking every ounce of bandwidth, and no amount of QoS helps clear it up.

Agreed. I just don't know what QoS is.

I understand you too Sasso. MANY times i have been downloading something on Steam and it has slowed down the internet for everyone in my house.

"Quality of Service" an attempt to limit traffic at our gateway. Just doesn't work.

I think that a network limit option in Steam would be good.

This makes the most sense, and gains the Ultima Seal of Approval.

Wait, so if the download speed option in Steam settings doesn't throttle back your downloads, what does it do?
