L4D server does not start
Hi guys,
thought i put this in the server section. First i had the problem with the glibc discussed here: http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...ighlight=glibc Got that new lib and the error is gone but the server still doesn´t start: Code:
Auto detecting CPU Using AMD Optimised binary. Enabling debug mode Server will auto-restart if there is a crash. Console initialized. Game.dll loaded for "L4D - Normal" Server is hibernating ConVarRef test_progression_loop doesn't point to an existing ConVar Game supporting (2) split screen players maxplayers set to 14 Unknown command "r_decal_cullsize" Unknown command "mat_bloom_scalefactor_scalar" Network: IP xx.xx.xx.xx, mode MP, dedicated Yes, ports 27065 SV / 27008 CL ---- Host_NewGame ---- Host_NewGame on map l4d_dem_hospital01_apartment ConVarRef room_type doesn't point to an existing ConVar Executing dedicated server config file Commentary: Could not find commentary data file 'maps/l4d_dem_hospital01_apartment_commentary.txt'. End of Source crash report I remember that TF2 also had problems running on an athlon xp cpu for some months in the beginning...maybe the same here? |

Try using srcds_run instead of srcds_i486 ?
For those having a server running. What's your folder structure like? When I install, I get everything in l4d_demo and some more in l4d_demo/left4dead. When I try to start with: ./srcds_run -console -game left4dead +Ip x.x.x.x -autoupdate +port 27020 -map l4d_dem_hospital01_apartment I get a map not found. What do you all use to start it? Note: I'd like for Valve to learn to take the time to write documentation for its community instead of throwing a package in our face. I doubt most sys admin would accept this kind of lack of documentation when installing Apache, Bind, Postfix and what not. |

I found a work around to my own issue. (Sorry for the thread hijacking but I figured we could use one thread to solve all the "not starting" issues)
I worked around my problem by changing the map through the server console after running srcds_run. ("map l4d_dem_hospital02_subway" for example). It didn't take more than a few seconds that I had players connecting after that. I'm also under the impression that it's not using my server.cfg as people can only connect from the loby and my variables aren't loaded. |

My own debian on an Athlon XP won't start at all:
Code:
./srcds_run: line 361: 3294 Illegal instruction $HL_CMD I tried your command line. I do remember TF2 on athlon XP (same machine). Last edited by Indamix: 11-12-2008 at 01:09 PM. |
