Arrow L4D bugs thread - Read first posts before adding - Report exploits privately

I don't have the time and energy left to support this thread, as I have lots of private stuff to do, so in my free time I won't sit here collecting further data.

Also, seeing that L4D 2 comes out before L4D even got it's promised support... Meh. Feel free to make your own new thread about all the bugs still ingame. Thanks for the great support guys



I thought it would be helpful for Valve if we had a thread just like in the TF2 forums to keep track of actual problems. After only 2 hours it got stickied, thanks for the help to our hard working mods and forumites here.
Special thanks to TygerTyger; Nodrak; Subatomic and -ph- for their intense help.

I also started to give +5rep for some of you proving or posting important issues with screenshots or explanations. Thanks to everyone for the great help and giving +rep to me so far as this is really a hard task to keep the thread up to date.

This thread is for L4D - PC VERSION ONLY!


How can YOU help? Must reed leetle text!

- READ the first 4 posts before posting or at least search for key words if this bug is already added.
- Please post hardcore exploits ONLY via /PM directly to a MOD.
- Please do not post bugs that are in the console version as they're already fixed or on Valves list.
- Validate posted bugs tagged as [*patched?] or [*unconfirmed!].
- No off topic discussions ("I don't like this game mechanic").
- Link threads to bugs here.
- Report issues you encountered.
- Second other peoples posted bugs to validate them.
- Post screenshots or videos to show what bug you're talking about.
- Report outdated, fixed or wrong bugs so I can remove them.
- Correct false described issues.
- Deliver descriptions of what causes the glitches and issues.
- Please describe your bugs as good as possible, that you know what you mean doesn't help everyone else knowing what you mean as some bugs may not affect everyones games.
- If you already posted a bug here and I missed listing it (I'm not perfect) PLEASE post it again or /PM me so I can add it if it's definatly a bug.
- If you reported a specific bug which got listed thanks to your post, please try to confirm it again after official L4D updates are released.

New bugs and glitches or updated points will be posted in the first position of every section, pushing older bugs down the section.
Bugs here have 3 states:
[*unconfirmed!] These points are not described very good, appear doubtable or totally new and need more people, information or proves to get confirmed.
[*patched?] These issues may be patched and need reports for confirmation or deletion.
[check] These points are validated and correct. Rare points with this stamp may be fixed with a recent patch which will get them removed as soon as they're reported.

- Huge ping and FPS performance breakdowns and performance decrease since the January 14, 2009 patch for many people. [check]

- Often after closing L4D, L4D.exe doesn't end. [check]

- Since the new update (January 23, 2009), some graphic cards can cause crashes. [check]

- Seldom, after reaching a saferoom and completing a chapter the game will enter the loading screen and load indefinitely. [check]

- Pre-patch recorded demos won't work. [check]

- Hunter leap exploit. [check and reported]

- It is sometimes possible to see the outlines of infected and their names even if you are survivor. Screenshot 1/////Screenshot 2 [check]

- Being hit by a boss infected darkens the screen for some people. Screenshot at max brightness [*patched?]

- Witches and tanks spawning ontop of players. [check]

- For many people L4D updates everytime they start up steam. This is often the case when your ingame language is NOT set to english. Original thread/////> SOLUTION? [*patched?]

- Doll like infected, zero animations, floating and blocking door ways, not killable and making it impossible to pass. Maybe caused from nb_stop 1.Screenshot 1/////Screenshot 2/////Screenshot 3 [*patched?]

- The game takes a long time to establish a stable connection to servers. Even after the map is loaded, there is a significant delay before the game becomes smooth enough to be playable. Then, it runs smoothly until the next map change. [check]

- When an update is downloaded, the game localization reverts back to english automatically. [*patched?]

- In game: Disconnection error: "no steam logon" [check]

- Several "Disconnected: client timed out" errors. [check]

- Missing textures / graphics "all black" problem. >OFFICIAL SOLUTION! [check]

- Ninja-lobby-game-starts: Sometimes you join a lobby only to get directly to the loading screen, resulting in forced connections. There is no "New player joined, you have to wait X seconds to start game" message for the lobby leader. [check]

- If a full versus lobby of people cannot find a relevant server it will force into a normal game. I.e. it will kick the 4 infected players and the game with become a standard game... thus NOT A VERSUS. [check]

- Sometimes dropping down a height will get you hanging from the ledge where it should not. Screenshot 1/////Screenshot 2 [check]

- Sometimes you cannot close the chat window and your view is locked, you get the mousecursor, but you cannot click on anything (not even on the chat window). The ESC-button doesn't work, but if you have bound "toggleconsole" and use it you are able to write in the chat again, by pressing enter the chat window closes and you can use your mouse again. This also happens on MOTD windows. [check]

- Matchmaking pushes you into laggy, customised games and is unable to be edited so you can choose what you want to play. (and yes, according to the name MATCHMAKING, this IS a bug ) [*patched?]

- "You must be signed into steam to do that." Error even if you are signed in, making it unable to join internet games. [check]

- Error: "the nv4_disp display driver has stopped working normally"-crash after looping sound. [*patched?]

- Huge issues with people not being able to join local servers hosted by people in their friends list or get kicked out of the lobby. ("Connection Failed After 10 Retries" issue). Screenshot [check]

- Many people experience that sometimes in the subway of No Mercy the shiny surfaces such as walls and the tiled pillars (red ones) will give off a pink and black square reflection. This is a known bug with all source games: For some reason the cubemaps are no longer used, most often after adjusting graphics settings or using alt-tab while playing in full screen. I doubt it will be fixed anytime soon. Turning L4D on and off, joining a new game or alt tabbing will fix it. [check]

- Sound loop crashes for several people. Original thread [check]

- Some players lose sound after they load up a level. [check]

- Sporadically crashes to desktop for a few people. [*patched?]

- If you play with v-sync on (triple or double buffered), the game stutters in a very irritating fashion when turning the mouse left or right. Fix: set mouse filter (keyboard/mouse options) to DISABLED [check]

General in-game, weapons, bot problems:


- Holding the melee button while incapacitated mutes your gunfire sounds. [check]

- Turning the minigun as far to the left/right as possible and then aiming straight upward may cause the minigun to vanish out of your view. Screenshot 1/////Screenshot 2 [check]

- Since the January 23, 2009 patch the meele animation rarly has no feedback or takes no effect in multiplayer. [check]

- You can save falling team mates even if you're 20 meters below. [check]

- On map l4d_vs_farm02_traintunnel, an all bot survivor team will not open the alarm door. [check]

- On map l4d_vs_farm03_bridge, an all bot survivor team will not start the train wreck. [check]

- On map l4d_vs_hospital04_interior, an all bot team will call the elevator but after the elevator arrives they will continue to push the button to call the elevator instead of pressing the button inside the elevator. [check]

- Ragdolls getting stuck in the clipping. Screenshot [check]

- Healing others may glitch the animation and you can turn around while doing so. Screenshot [check]

- The mapround will end when all the human survivors are incapacitated although the bot survivors are still alive. [check]

- If two persons throw pills to a same person at the same time one pills package may dissapear. [*unconfirmed!]

- If you jump just as the round is ending, your view will be stuck in midair when you spawn as the survivor, but you're still being able to move. Screenshot [check]

- If your holding a gas tank and you get pounced, pressing use during the rising up animation makes the gas tank dissapear. [*unconfirmed!]

- People griefing with healing in problematic moments. [check]

- Bots may help you up from strange positions. Screenshot [check]

- You can see unsaved survivors pounding the air. Screenshot 1/////Screenshot 2 [check]

- Weapon firing sound is delayed for some miliseconds: Fire against a wall/window/metal object and you will hear the bullet hit sound right before the firing sound. [*unconfirmed!]

- The near miss gunfire sounds that play when a bullet goes past your head will play if you run in any direction but forward, while shooting your gun, but only for a split second. Video [check]

- Rarely a player may get invisible for his whole team (without alt tabbing). [check]

- Since the January 23, 2009 update if you melee right after firing a shotgun (either) you will hear an additional shot and muzzleflash during the melee animation but no shot is fired (besides the first "real" one). [check]

- Often reloading your weapon may miss the animation, but you do get your clip full again after the duration of the missing animation. [check]

- Sometimes your charakter will be stuck in the grabbing animation. Screenshot 1/////Screenshot 2 [check]

- Taking a break while dead doesn't work. When you are rescued, your character is not unter AI control. [check]

- Landing on another player will break your fall completely meaning no fall damage. [check]

- Bots refusing to leave the saferoom once they're in it. [check]

- Very rare false voice responses: <Zoey heals Bill> Bill: "Thanks." Zoey: "Anything for you, Louis." [check]

- If you shoot an oxygen tank, it takes a second or two for it to explode. If you pick it up in during that time, it doesn't explode and works like new. [check]

- You can open the saferoom door again before the loading screen shows up. Screenshot [check]

- Bot survivors may try to free you from a smoker instead of helping you up the ledge. Screenshot [check]

- If the Tank hits you while you are pinned near certain obstacles, you can get stuck in the "reeling" phase of the hit (where you lose control of your survivor and can do nothing) permanently. You cannot be rescued because you are not incapacitated. [check]

- Sometimes when hit by a tank or car, the impact can get you stuck to the side of a wall. When stuck in such a way, you are only able to slide along the edges of it, but you cannot move away from the wall. Getting incapacitated and then being revived solved the problem. [check]

- Igniting gas canister emits the sound of the molotov bottle breaking. [check]

- If you heal while crouching, the animation doesn't show the bandages. [check]

- When incapacitated and reloading pistols, if you are revived before you finish reloading, you have your main weapon out and your pistols are not reloaded. [check]

- When you are on a ladder and get healed by someone else, you drop down. [check]

- If a player is incapacitated, his health pack icon will disappear if he had a health pack, until he gets picked up again. [check]

- You can get stuck in several places. [check]

- You can get on unreachable spots or outside the map if you jump close to a edge of another building so you'll be hanging there - if a teammate helps you up, you're on top of that building/edge where u jumped to. Screenshot [check]

- Sometimes the game displays the wrong item models. Screenshot [check]

- If a bot (other player?) is healing you, you cannot reload. [check]

- Shoving a incapped or pinned survivor with the medkit out will result in healin him instead of shoving. [check]

- Saving mates out of the closet sometimes fails. Original thread [check]

- You can get stuck in closing doors. [check]

- While holding a medkit, pills, or grenade you have a flashlight beam with no source. Screenshot [check]

- While spectating yourself from 3rd person, it is possible to rotate the flashlight. (This only happens while healing another survivor, but not if you heal yourself.) [check]

- Punching or shooting props (such as televisions, toasters, coffee makers ect) in safe rooms or anywhere may cause them to collide against the player and do damage. Some instances have caused massive damage (standing on the object against a corner then shooting). [check]

- Jumping and running while carrying one of the destroyable props, will cause a leg to get into the players sight, so that you can see through the half part of it. The problem is with all of the props and is sometimes quite heavy and ugly. Screenshot [check]

- Vomit of idle infected clips through the whole level. [check]

- After being knocked down with your medpack out and revived, medkits may disappear. They vanish from the playersmodel until the player uses it again. [check]

- You can not jump while in ascending areas (elevators, lift near gas station). [check]

- Free-roaming spectators have no light. In dark areas, spectators can see nothing at all. [check]

- Infected block survivors on ladders, survivors block infected on ladders. [check]

- Infected being shot with the rifle from a far distance may not die, even if their model gets bloody shotwounds. [check]

- The rifle misses while shot unzoomed and running around even if an infected fills your screen out. [check]

- Reloading a weapon while being caught from a smoker or hunter may result in a reloading sound loop until you get freed. [check]

- Sometimes it's not possible to melee above or below you properly, even when crosshair aimed up or down. [check]

- There's a new non cheats third person command "thirdpersonshoulder": the shotgun sound doesn't play when you fire and the crosshair is usually off, and you have to manually set it with console commands. [check]

- (Single Player) When dying (on the first level of the No Mercy) you will respawn with the primary weapon you had when you died, with more ammo than it can hold included. [check]

- If you get incapacitated WHILE crouching and continue to crouch, you will remain at the crouching level until you let go of the crouching button. [check]

- It is possible to clip into wall while backing backwards. Screenshot [check]

- After throwing/placing a gas can or propane tank it switches to Primary Weapon and not Last Used Weapon. [check]

- AI will not take weapons if active players don't take weapons. [check]

- Hitting several posters in game with a flashlight reveals the wall beneath it. Screenshot [check]

- Sometimes the coloured outlines of friends suddenly disappear. [check]

- Right after a map is complete and you press Escape while it first starts loading, it turns your screen black... [check]

- When you are holding a gun out of ammo, and a fellow survivor dies with the same gun, you can't pick it up to replenish some of your ammo. [check]

- The first aid kit has no first person animation. It is completely still when holding it. [check]

- It is possible to be stuck in a state of extremely jerky/laggy player movement (unrelated to lag) when taking over for a bot in a game. It can be fixed by jumping. [check]

- Being incapacitated (hanging from a ledge) on unforseen (high) spots in several maps. Screenshot [check]

- Sometimes you are able to move around in the opening scene as survivor at the start of campaigns while the intro still plays for other players. The moving player is unable to open doors during this time. [check]

- Mounting a minigun with the Molotov equipped will still show the fire effect on your screen before its particles dissipate. Screenshot This also happens when covering a survivor with an Molotov equipped. [check]

- After being incapacitated on a ladder you may get stuck. Video [check]

- Vertical distance for survivor healing is not checked. If you are close horizontally then you can heal someone, even if vertically they are not next to you. So you can heal someone at the top of a ladder when you are at the bottom. [check]

- It is possible to help up other survivors through doors and obstacles if they're near enough. [check]

- Rare: Missing gun sounds on the first shots. [check]

- You may have more than one survivor of the same model, resulting in running "clones". Screenshot 1/////Screenshot 2 [check]

- Eye rendering issue on shader model 2.0 cards. In high detail or medium or low this applies. Screenshot [check]

- Giving another player pills makes him switch to the pills immedeatly resulting in uncomfortable situations many times (during a horde rush f.i.) [check]

- Broken/shattered door parts may pass through the floor in a lower level (f.i. Apartments) [check]

- More than one pick up item may spawn at the exactly same spot. (Multiple molotovs standing within each other) [check]

- Firing weapons may not react properly sometimes. [check]

- Infinite Molotovs: If you stand next to a colletion of moltovs (Just 1 on the ground will suffice), you can throw a moltov and quickly look to the ground and pick it up. The one you threw will explode, and an "extra" one will drop when you pick up the one on the ground. You can do this as many times as you want and it'll just keep making more and more for you to throw. [check]

- Med pack exploit in saferooms: "Grab a med pack, close the door, while it's closing I start to heal myself. I'm instantly given the health, level load starts, next map there's 4 med packs." Original thread [check]

- Changing Mic port when joining a game. [check]

- Pressing the flashlight key while using the Minigun causes a constant repitition of the flashlight click noise as well as flashing it on and off, until you stop using the minigun. [check]

- Shadows displaying through walls when the object is very close to the wall. Screenshot [check]

Infected, boss and versus issues:


- This wall in NM seems to be unbreakable where it should be. (Only tank?) Screenshot [check]

- Common infected behind breakable walls try to run through them even if they're still intact instead of running around. Screenshot [check]

- Often the game loads up normal campaigns as versus maps. Screenshot [check]

- Blood Harvest map 1, there is an unclimbable ladder for infected. Screenshot [check]

- It seems like if you join a game when your character is dead you'll be able to hear the opposing team even when that match is over. [*unconfirmed!]

- Bots teleporting themselves in versus even while they're caught from smokers or hunters. [check]

- When you join a game in progress you enter as survivor even thought the infected are outnumbered. [check]

- It may be possible to block vomit if you melee in the very right moment, making the puke disappear. [*unconfirmed!]

- Since the first big patch, "spawn infected right onto survivors" is a lot more common. [check]

- Sometimes, Hunters (and maybe all infected) don't appear to report changes in the direction they're facing unless they move: f.i. Hunters leaping at you while crouching facing away from you. [*unconfirmed!]

- In versus mode, you will change the survior every time. [check]

- After the according patch, it is *STILL* possible to block the vomit or tongue as ghost spawning infected. [*unconfirmed!]

- Meleeing breaks and infected's strafe; if you're strafing either direction and then melee your character will stop moving. You can still move forward and backwards while meleeing but you can't strafe. [check]

- Spawning ghost infected can block the outlines of survivors and teammates. Screenshot 1/////Screenshot 2 [check]

- You can't see votes made by the other team, only that it failed or passed. [check]

- No Mercy Apartments, you can be spawned as tank here but is unable to get out of this room. Screenshot [*unconfirmed!]

- In tight narrow spaces, melee has no effect. [check]

- On NM 4, after the elevator, an explosion can stun the Tank off the building. He will fall but won't die, walking around in a glitchy area of the map unable to do anything. Eventually his patience meter will run out and some other infected player will take his spot, "removing" a player from the game. Screenshot [check]

- In respawn mode as infected you can get pushed away when you get hit by doors being opened or closed. [*unconfirmed!]

- After a versus game ends, no new players can join that lobby because it is "still in finale". [check]

- If you are playing Infected and you duck inside a crate while in Spawn-Mode, you keep stuck in the crouch animation. [check]

- When you vote for a new campaign on versus, it may load the coop-version of that map. [*unconfirmed!]

- In versus, if you switch teams, the game will stick you back on your original team whenever a new map loads. [check]

- Sometimes infected may play their animations (meleed back) even off ledges before they fall (like in cartoons). [check]

- Forced spawns in finales may be in sight of survivors or on deathly ledges where you will fall no matter what. [check]

- When jumping while spawning on versus can cause you to spawn in the roof, on the roof or anywhere else you do not really want to spawn. [check]

- Very rare: Hordes may spawn in the same room as the survivors. [check]

- The AI controlled placeholder boss infected in versus may get stuck or just won't move. Video [check]

- In versus on No Mercy, you may get stuck behind the pawn shop in level 2. Screenshot [check]

- Infected that are facing sideways against a map vehicle (subway or trains) will not be effected by melee attacks. [check]

- Playing as infected, the handrails at the top of the escalator on subway are invisible (but still there). [check]

- Blood and gore decal shows through walls and doors. [check]

- Infected in their climbing-over-obstacle animations have inconsistent hit boxes. [check]

- People with slower pcs (that are still within the minimum requirements) many times have the problem that when they start as infected in a versus server that they have to wait 30 seconds before they respawn while it says ready to respawn all the time (this isnt only at the moment the map starts, its also when the teams change). And sometimes it also happens in the middle when you need to respawn normaly cousing 60 seconds waiting. [check]

- On No Mercy you may die in spawnmode if you fall down the elevator shaft. [check]

- Joining a game in progress instantly pushes you into one survivor even if you haven't loaded yet which may cause you to die, unable to defend yourself. [check]

- In versus mode on Blood harvest, you can't get through the fire alarm door in spawnmode before the survivors have opened it. [check]

- As infected, meleeing will make you stand up. [check]

- Infected run at full speed while crouching. [check]

- In versus mode, as the map starts for the first time; some players on the infected team spawn right away while others have up to 25 second delays '25 seconds until spawn'. [check]

- Infected sometimes spawn right in front of you. [check]

- Infected have no bots where survivors will have bots. [check]

- On certain parts infected can walk trough rubble and get stuck there. [check]

- Infected can climb over anything (cars trucks etc etc) yet on versus you can only climb over certain things. [check]

- If a lot of infected die near a door it can sometimes become stuck on their bodies and cannot be opened again. [check]

- Regular infected that are forced to crouch (like if they stand under a pipe) can be impossible to melee. you swing at them and they hit right back instead of falling backward. [check]

- Minimising the game will make some boss infected invisible. [check]

- Kills awarded either to the wrong person or when a kill hasn't been made at all. [check]

- You can hurt other infected during versus mode and even kill them easily as a tank. [check]

- If you are on the last stage of a versus session, and you get incapacitated while on the helicopter/in the tank, if the other living survivors get on the escape vehicle, the session ends. Although you are technically on the escape vehicle, it marks you as deceased. [check]

- Infected leaning against a wall are visible on the other side of the wall and can be shot. Screenshot [check]

- Sometimes infected get spawned inside clippings. Screenshot [check]

- In versus mode when your respawn timer hits 0, you can't spawn during a panic event or it takes very long. [check]

- Infected and bosses can get onto and into the rescue vehicle and kill survivors, even after the campaign finished. [check]

- As infected, you can't spawn on top of objects. [check]

- Infected standing in the air sometimes. Screenshot [check]

- As infected boss, by default you have a "nightvision" running, so that you can see in the dark. If you hit the flashlight key [F] it turns off - but turns on again within a split second. Intended, it should be toggled [check]

- Infected may glitch into props. Screenshot [check]

- Quite often after the respawn timer is done you get stuck in "entering spawn mode" and are not given a ghost. Original thread [check]

- Infected sometimes get spawned "behind" the level and are unable to rush to the survivor as they're blocked from the clipping. (Seen in noclip, they still can be heard) [check]

- Opening doors pushes survivors and infected which stand in front of it away. If a infected gets between a door and a wall in tight spaces (f.i. Apartment bathrooms), he won't go AROUND the door, but will start to beat the door to pieces. [check]

- Infected spawned ontop of wooden boxes often have path finding issues and keep raging against the box. [check]

- As a smoker, after somebody freed your victim, you will stand stunned 1 second without being able to run away before you gain the control over the smoker back. [check]

- Occasionally smokers will drag a survivor and will get them caught on an object and 'strangle' them, but this does not seem to actually cause damage even if it should. [check]

- When a smoker drags a player at the same time he closes a door, he will be dragged and the door will close this results in the players model being visible from the smokers side of the door while he is actually still on the other side. [check]

-Boomer-

- Vomitting on survivors anew often won't trigger another panic event. [check]

- Irregular hordes attracted from vomit attacks as boomer. Sometimes one covered player spawns a huge horde, sometimes four covered survivors won't trigger more than 10 infected. [check]

- Boomers can't vomit through infected or players. If survivors stand PARTLY in front of another, you can't cover the one behind properly even if you see and hit him. This way survivors become shielded from bile even if you clearly see and "hit" them with vomit. [check]

- Exploding bile showers won't affect survivors directly ontop or under you. [check]

- AI boomers having problems to find to survivors and going to jump off buildings without survivors underneath them. [check]

- When using your vomit attack on survivors, being meleed or killed forces the bile to magically disappear while in mid-air. If the survivor kills you before the vomit lands on the survivors, it simply magically disappears. [check]

- Death Toll part 4: Grab yourself a sniper rifle, get to the offices and try sniping infected down the alley with the forklift, through the windows. Be sure to zoom in. -DA2, it is possible to jump from the roofs, onto the tree located behind the semi (in front of the safehouse/pawn shop) and then onto the trailer and skip the offices entirely. Screenshot please! [check]

Game, connection, matchmaking and interface issues:


- No Steam log on error. [check]

- Calling a vote through the console may result in a notification error: <Changing difficulty to "&1s". This only occurs if you type small. Lowercase names don't work ("impossible"), but capitalized (Impossible), it actually shows the difficulty! [check]

- Votes to call the difficulty are named incorrect: "callvote changedifficulty easy/normal/hard/impossible" instead of "easy/normal/advanced/expert". [check]

- The "retry" command is broken. [check]

- If players joins a server directly through their steam group or direct connect via "openserverbrowser" it shows them as being "Not in a joinable game". Achievement bugs:


- Lambs 2 slaughter community Achievement will NOT register for anyone. FIX[check]

- Steamcommunity achievement stats don't update. FIX [check]

- Quote: "Played the first 4 levels of Death Toll (and the team used health or disturbed a witch at least once), and we experienced lag caused by the server. To fix this, i switched to a local server, had all the same people join in on the game, and played the last level of Death Toll (only). None of us used health packs or disturbed a witch, but only in the 5th level... on the first 4, we all used health, and we disturbed at least one witch... but we got the two achievements according to the stated above." [*unconfirmed!]

- Description typo: "Survive a campaign without being incapacitated.C" [check]

- You can cheat achievements with an exploit. [check]

- "UNBREAKABLE Finish a campaign without ever using a first aid kit on yourself." is wrong described: It should mean "... without being healed by others or yourself". [check]

- The "achievement updated" sound plays every time if you protect a survivor even though you already have the body guard achievement. [check]

- In the german version, if someone on the server earns an achievement, the game shows the following message: " hat folgende Errungenschaft erhalten ?ACHIEVEMENTNAME", (" has earned the following achievement: ?ACHIEVEMENTNAME"). Without showing the name. [*patched?]

- If you melee a boomer away from you before he spews on you, but after you melee him he spews on you, killing him will still give you the clean kill achievement. [*unconfirmed!]

- Often, completing a campaign and surviving does not unlock the achievement (survive the No Mercy campaign and other 3 campaigns). Sometimes a few people earn it and others don't. Original thread Reason: If your on a slower computer that doesn't load the game fast enough, the openeing cinematic will play without you and the game starts. Once you're done loading you join the game but the system doesn't count you as being in the game 100% of the time, therefore at the end of campaign you lose the achievement. [check]

- Just as three of my teammates (single player) hit the chopper on No Mercy I was struck by a tank and incapacitated. The credits rolled...I was listed as "In memorium" but also as surviving...and I got my achievement. [check]

ULTRA MAJOR SERVER JOIN GLITCH: Using the "OpenServerBrowser" standard join window to join any game will result in an instant "Connection Failed" window, the same result if you use the console command "connect 68.177.101.98:27015" (checked, recheck, verified, reverified, & absolutly frustrating)... This RUNIS any potential for custom servers & maps! OMGWT#RUDoing Valve?!!!!

M-A-J-O-R zombie horde glitch: Survivor can stop on ladder (1~5 feet from top) and block a boomer vomit horde from pouring in and recieve no damage from zombies standing on head. Zombies will just stand, stuck in 'dropping' pose until shot by rest of team. Falling zombies should at least bump survivors down (or off) ladder, if not even beating them down it...or mabey pull them up

MAJOR Boomer Pop glitch: If killed while standing on survivors head, they receive no spray. (drop out of vent or down ladder and are shot till exploded while on head)(FIXED)

Boobmer vomit aim glitch: Vomit does not hit target when shot up stairways unless you aim twice the height over survivor head. (i.e. have to shoot somewere other than at target)

Boomber explosion spray glitch: Explosion Radious is almost perfectly horizontal. (Is this a glitch or is he a U.S. military claymore directional mine?)

Tank Glitch #1: durring expert mode in subway, have tank chase you back to subway starting spawn, 25~50% of time he will fail to follow you up to that level and will die without a shot fired at the foot of the rocks.

Tank Glitch #2: if he does follow you up, run in and close door and stay right in front of door, he will swipe at you instead of hitting down door, but door will not break and you will not get dammaged.. fire away!!!

NOTE - if you back away from the door, your toast. he will smash down the door and pound you into dust.

When i try to reload, sometimes ive had time where the weapon has jammed - ive had to melee once for it to reload.

Don't know if its done on purpose, though.

Someone please sticky this thread! Can't believe there hasn't been a stickied bug reportin' thread so far.

Anyway, connection issue:

Extreme lag (2000+ pings) in the saferoom at the beginning of No Mercy Pt 2: The Subway. Problem resolves once character is out of saferoom and onto stairs facing into turnstile hall - curiously, you can "Take a break" and spectate smoothly, lag only happens when you're controlling the survivor. This doesn't seem like a bug at all but an intended effect. Not everyone is going to drop stone dead to the ground once you kill them. The way some infected continue to run a few steps or very slowly slide/slump to the ground is imo a very realistic and immersive feature of the game.
If a player is so twitchy that they continue to shoot such infected then that's their problem, it's quite possible to very quickly learn how many hits it takes to kill one.
I thoroughly enjoy this feature.

Shooting the hunter out of the air is as intended. It's mentioned in one or two of the dev commentary videos where... I forget his name is grouped with people at a demo showing and they're dong the finale of no mercy.

I can't agree with all of these as some are incorrect:

1. It is intended that you can knock hunters out of the air with melee - it's an achievement after all.
2. The tank is not intended to break down saferoom doors on difficulties below Expert.
3. The witch is supposed to run away after it kills its first victim or loses the target - it's a one-victim deal. Its vanishing out of sight is intended to the best of my knowledge.
4. The console has never worked on non-american keyboards. This applies to previous source games as well.
5. While there are a few cases where the lower gravity produces odd ragdolls, for all intents and purposes it is an intended feature.

Sometimes in the second level the shiny surfaces such as walls and the tiled pillars (red ones) will give off a pink and black square reflection kinda thing. Many people have experienced this. Turning left4dead on and off fixes it for me and sometimes joining a new game will fix it.

this has also happened to me on garrysmod. I was running a different graphics card but same problem.
