Pretty crazy stuff there... no wonder the shotgun takes out tanks so fast.

What exactly does

"X damage per second, y sustained" mean?

What are these two values?

Also, some of this really doesn't add up. The M16 has the same penetration power as the hunting rifle? Have you tested this?

Bear in mind to test:
1. How manyzombies each can shoot through at once
2. How many walls can be shot through at once
3. What types of walls - plaster, brick, metal, train carriages, concrete walls, metal door frames, etc.
4. Whether any power ios lost on penetration.

The game makes a big deal about the hunting rifle's penetration power. I find it very hard to believe that valve would give the M!6 that same power, in addition to it's massive clip and faster firing rate.

Also, you#ve put shotguns as "normal" wall penetration? You were saying just yesterday that only 3 of the shells penetrate through walls, which would make their penetration power more like 33/25%. Was this wrong?

Good work, but these things notably don't make sense for me, and need some explaining.

I'll give you another rep if you answer them all

I'm really pretty certain it doesn't. Multiple sources combined with personal experience.

Also, consider that, unlike everything else in the game, the tank's head is not protruding. His freakishly oversized shoulders, chest and trapezius muscles, combined with his somewhat slouched pose, mean that his head is surrounded by other parts of his body, and headshotting him would be ridiculously easy and low risk, whereas with all others, the head is a small target and you risk the higher chance of missing if you try to hit it

I've done some pretty extensive attempts at 1-hit KOing a witch in varying difficulties. I believe the witch's endurance varies across difficulties. I cannot say if its an increased health as you go up in difficulty or if possibly it mitigates damage differently based on body part, but here is what I can contribute that I have observed of the 100~ witches I've killed in a single hit (using either shotgun):

Both normal and easy mode (mostly normal): A full blast to the torso or head will (if done correctly) kill the witch in one hit.

Expert mode (I did not try Advanced yet): A full blast to the torso, that would normally kill a witch in Normal or Easy, will not suffice. I've only been able to 1-hit the witch with shots to the head (possibly a few splash hits to the torso, I cannot say).

I can try to provide proof. All this testing was done in single-player mode with cheats enabled. No game settings were adjusted aside from giving myself different guns, i.e. I didn't do anything to reduce monster HP relative to the default.

Found a cool way to just make the witch run away too - yet to test it in versus mode though.

Thanks for the guide, it was exactly what I was looking for and very well done at that!

How were they tested if you dont mind me asking?

the dps: sustained factors in reloading and continually firing. The first is just 1 clip, the sustained is over the course of a couple clips.

and we can assume that headshots on boss infected just isnt tested yet? Because they seem to insta kill when shot in the head for anything really.

Uhm especially because of this headshoting him is more difficult than headshoting anything else in the game. Try to headshot a tank from behind, won't work, try to headshot him from the side - very very difficult if not next to impossible.

Other stuff you can headshot from behind/the sides because their heads stick out, tank's head doesn't stick out so only way to get a good shot at his head is if he's running straight at you.

I knew it. Hunters are FAR more powerful.

Actually, I wonder if they're too powerful maybe. I once incapped an entire team, just running among them slashing. granted, they were fairly injured to start wih, but I did a hell of a lot more damage than pouncing anyone would have done.
