Does Spore still have DRM

Does Spore have a limit on the number of installations or did EA realize that Steam will stop Pirates?

thats what i want to know as well. i WILL NOT buy spore as long as the install limits are there. and i WILL NOT buy it until there is firm confirmation one way or the other...

in fact, i may not buy it anyway since it looks like it still requires the online activation.

It does not have SecuROM DRM, the only DRM it uses is Steam itself.

youre absolutely, positively SURE of that? honestly, id sooner believe there were suddenly two suns in the sky than that EA would drop the install-limited and online-activation DRM...

of course, if you had asked me yesterday if i thought EA would ever ditch their jarate-poor online distribution system in favor of steam, id have also laughed so...

might not matter either way, if the price is actually $50 instead of the $22... spore is a $20 game, tops...

For SPORE, yes - I am certain.

If the game did have third party DRM, it would also be listed in the games store page.

I'm still going to wait a bit before even considering, because it wasn't until a bit after it was released that it was revealed Clear Sky had TAGES...

As Gene said, that hasn't always been the case, so I was still iffy.

Not that I don't trust you, but your first response seemed as though you knew no more for certain than we did.

Well Mass Effect doesn't use SecuROM: http://forums.bioware.com/forums/vie...orum=22&sp=128 (I think I got the permalink right)

So it's a rather safe assumption for "the public" to make.

But I'll too wait just to be sure.

If they let me activate my CD key on steam, and let me uninstall their crappy install limited games and play them with no limits on Steam, I'll start buying EA games again, till then I'm still boycotting them, even if the steam versions have no additional DRM. I feel I am not alone in the community for thinking this, and that a major majority of people who are protesting EA might change their minds and actually BUY the games if they do this....

This is acceptable drm, steam alone, but I really HATE SECUROM. If EA lets me put my Mass Effect and Crysis CD keys on steam, I'll start buying their games again provided they don't pull a clear sky...
