Error code 85

I need some help. I´m trying to play JA 2 Gold but I always get this "error code 85" message when I´m launching the game.
How can I solve this problem?

I recently got the Jagged Alliance 2: Gold package with Unfinished Business. I'm getting an Error Code 85 when I try to play them. Any suggestions?

Posts on forum for other games seem to say that the error clears up once valve patches the .exe.

This seems to be a coding issue that they just don't seem to want to own. Understandable, since they dont make a lot of money off this title, I'd bet.

So, we have to be noisy about it - and make it worth their while to fix this error. I've already put a ticket on this and get the usual run-around stall....

This is an error code. Error codes are listed. You don't even have to know the alphabet to find this error code in the list - it is listed by number.... Be super nice if someone can parse the error code list and post documentation for error code 85.

Everyone, please, take the time to post here if you are having problems.

Would also be interested in seeing posts from those who have recently bought JAG2 - and are *not* having this issue. Thanks.

I bought the game yesterday and thought...hmmm ok its on steam...should run, if they sell it...and voila...error 85.....THIS SUCKS!!!!!!!

i've got a black sreen now and then back to Desktop.

JA2 Version is Gold!

Just purchased the game about 20 minutes ago. Finished updating. Defragged.

Went to run it, and immediately got error code 85.

Specs:

E8500
8800GT OC
G.SKILL 8GB DDR2 1066
Win7 Ult x64

If STEAM isn't going to fix it, at least it should give us a refund.

Same problem.
Just PURCHASED and installed it...error ode 85.
Very nice.
I have the original version of JA2 (normal edition, not gold, and it runs fine) so I figure this definately has something to do with steam.

I expect a fix or a refund.
Will also send an email to steam support.
