Logitech G5 Problems?

I have a friend that, after the new update, his Logitech G5 is very screwy. The buttons do all kinds of weird things, and the DPI buttons are reversed. This is the only game this happens on, and only after the update.

Anyone else have a similar problem or know a fix?

Thanks,
max

Have him reinstall his mouse drivers. I have a G5 and have none of the problems you speak of at all.

Yes G5 + Source engine games = screwy.

Let me guess... he runs Vista and when he uses mouse 5 button (second thumb button) the DPI resets?

If so you need to find the Setpoint.exe and go to its properties and make it run as administrator. It will block the startup program but you can make it run as a scheduled task to get around it. Theres a tutorial on how to do that somewhere out there.

Hope that helps

Best helpful solution I've heard-thank you! I'll tell my friend to try it out

I've got a G5. The only problem I have is sometimes the rifle scope button screws over the sensitivity

I had a similar problem with my G5 with the DPI decreasing if I hit "mouse 5" thumb button, and I had to leave the source game to increase the DPI again.

The fix for me involves not ticking the checkbox in logitech setpoint control panel for "Game Detection" and making sure "Setpoint Implementation" bulletpoint is enabled.

Yes but then you lose your custom sensitivity settings and 90% of people can't choose "Setpoint implementation" after they choose it, it just rolls back to "OS implementation"

Unfortunately, I found out, my friend is not using Vista. So this fix is not it.

This solved my G5/Source woes.

That's my problem, but here is somwething I find VERY interesting.

First of all, Mouse5 always worked properly in CS:S. In TF2 when I first bought the G5, mouse5 would reset the DPI but now it no longer does. However, in L4D Mouse5 resets my DPI.

So clearly I magically figured out the problem in TF2, because it went from broken to fixed and who knows what I did to fix it. Either that or they fixed it in a patch, and have not applied the same fix to L4D.
